The Civil Brother
I'm immediately greeted by iris and a wave of agarwood. This note pyramid doesn't set ablaze, giving a burning effect like Interlude Man classic. While it is still dark and somewhat smoky, I find Interlude Black Iris to be more wearable and adaptable in different temperatures. Leather presents itself like a knight wielding a lance, riding in on a black horse. You hear the galloping, but you don't know what direction it's coming from until you're faced with it. No amber, myrrh or vanilla detected, but faintly existing in the background. For a moment there are slight Tom Ford Tuscan Leather vibes, yet still remains its own entity. Black Iris is the more civil and polished brother to Interlude. Somewhat of an enigma; dark, mysterious and would certainly drive the curiosity of those around you.

Why So Serious?
After hours of wear my final impression of Interlude Man is dark and somewhat gothic. An incredible fragrance no doubt, but this is the vibe that I get once the notes really settle on skin. Incense, labdanum and leather stand out tremendously. For those of you who have never seen pure labdanum, it is black and very dense. An hour into wear, Interlude begins to smell like the ashes of high grade incense and smoky red embers glowing beneath. I imagine this is what Severus Snape from Harry Potter might smell like. While I enjoy Interlude, I would prefer this as a home fragrance. After hours of wear my final impression of Interlude Man is dark and somewhat gothic. Performance and longevity is never a subject that needs to be addressed with Amouage. You’ll wear Interlude into the next day without question.

Fire Indeed
A magnificent tobacco intermixed with exotic spices and quality rum. The moment you think this fragrance has reached full potential, it continues to blossom beautifully. Everyone's perception on scent is different, but I personally didn't find this to be anything like Angels Share. However, it is very Tom Ford-esque and Kilian adjacent. In fact, if I could synch two comparable fragrances, it would be Mancera Red Tobacco and Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille. Sandalwood is not a key player here, but the lovely vanilla-tonka duo assists with a fiery warmth that emanates immediately upon application. Fire indeed.

Beauty Overlooked
Everything you love about The One, but enhanced. For me it's the fruity amber I find to be very attractive with white florals mingling in the mix. A pretty blend enwrapped in vanilla that gives an impression of sensuality. A potentially amazing date night fragrance that will not go unnoticed; at least not by me. The peach and vanilla here may put you in the mind of the original Burberry for Women. Despite being released in 2015, The One Essence is vastly underrated and a beauty overlooked. This could be because this fragrance was launched before the existence of TikTok and peak of influencer culture. I suppose that's what makes this special. The One Essence is a hidden gem.

Sophisticated Gourmand
Addictive, fun and unmistakably gourmand. I didn't find it to be "intense", but strong enough to be noticed if worn properly. The projection rate is moderate with decent longevity. Yes, it does smell like pistachio ice cream, but also something like Indian Kulfi. To my nose, the sandalwood and cedar base allows it to be more than an edible scent. The white floral accord makes this fragrance pop a little more, but the focus is always on pistachio. I find this to be similar in ways to Princess by Kilian (reformulated). It's not just the marshmallow, but the note exchange. Pistachio for matcha, cardamom for ginger. So to clarify, similar but not alike. So similar, that the two are very easy to layer. I tried it out of curiosity. While I believe each fragrance is like a painting and one should never be hung over another, Yum Pistachio and Princess are very pleasant together.
