In the Mood for Rose
This is an unapologetic, romantic rose fragrance that achieves a wonderful balance of notes and expressions of this iconic flower. It’s classic without feeling old-fashioned or soapy.
The opening is fresh (coriander/carrot seed) and joyful (hedione) but still mature (saffron). I feel instant exuberance with the initial spray—opened to life and what the day might bring.
In the heart, the fragrance becomes a sweet honeyed rose. (Maybe a little too sweet if I have been overexcited by the top and spray a bit more than necessary.) It’s not a weak fragrance at all and the sillage is generous. Three sprays is probably more than plenty!
The heart notes last and last creating a loving atmosphere of rose accompanied by a joyful jasmine and warm golden honey. While the top feels bright green and effervescent like a spray of pink rose buds, the heart unfurls as a full rose blossom, velvety in color and texture, weightier, sustained, still full of life. This rose is open and ready to work its magic for the world over.
The dry down into the base just makes me love the fragrance even more. The rose darkens with time and patchouli subtly supports it with an emerald green-ness, the sweetness also darkens into an intimate heady amber glow that carries the rose the last few hours.
This fragrance is for any and all lovers of rose! For this Gen X momma with goth roots, Ardent is a powerhouse love tonic that helps me set an optimistic, abundant, loving tone for the day. It has a gravity and complexity that feels mature and balances the sweetness. (I can be a bit averse to sweet fragrances but the green, earthiness works with the honey to keep it grounded.) Because the sillage can be generous, less is more in an indoor/work environment.
