Melancholy to spray on - plus sun cream
I actually wanted to start the review with "The MSB needs time, because it starts very strangely. Almost plasticky, pungent but with a distant hint of warmth."

But.... let's leave that alone. MSB is not understood with the nose and scents, but with associations and the heart.

------------------

A lonely day by the sea, a slightly pebbly sandy beach, the temperature can just about be called lukewarm, but the wind makes it feel fresher than a glance at the thermometer would have you believe.

Although the sun is shining brightly, it is - like your own thoughts - far away. Blue-tinged and desaturated - powerless. The mood on this day is also gray-blue. The only company on the beach is weathered wood and the flask of rum waiting to be used again in your coat pocket. The salt content in the air is almost palpable and forms a grotesque alliance with the sunscreen that has been applied despite the almost autumnal weather.

You're alone, but not lonely. After all, you have yourself. It's more of a calm that envelops you on this beach. Like the cold, this feeling calms you and you think of past vacations.

------------------

A little more (subjective) classification :

For me, Miami South beach is not a perfume or "fragrance" - it's more of a smell. A feeling to spray on. In this case, melancholy. Few other perfumes manage to create such an intense feeling in me simply through the olfactory impression. It is certainly not a crowd pleaser, nor does it want to be. More like a somewhat reclusive nerd with an island talent - but who is always there when you need him.

------------------

Thanks to Parfumo, who sent me a sample of Miami South Beach - otherwise I wouldn't have tested it with the jumbled fragrance notes. - But it only has very little to do with them anyway.

You could have been so beautiful!
I was sent Patchouli Magnetik as a sample with another perfume. I didn't know the brand or the fragrance and hadn't read any reviews. Just sprayed it on :

Uuuuuh.... fine! Overall, it reminded me a bit of "Mea Culpa | V Canto". This "sand note" is quite similar here at the beginning, or so I thought. Not wrong at all. A little fresh, a little dark patchouli with leather and woody notes... yes, I can warm to that.

Fast Forward 20 Minutes :

Yeah, fuck you, who packed the girls' changing room in my living room? The cheapest peachy-synthetic wafting lacy-pungent and yet somehow oppressive. There is either nothing left of all the fine details at the beginning or they are lost in this hideousness.

Fortunately, the sillage soon diminishes, but the longevity ... oh, I don't know if it's "good" - or I just feel that way because the fragrance bothers me all the time.

Really beautiful at the beginning, but then it goes massively downhill. In my eyes, the mediocre rating is justified here.

... and at this price. Phew. A real shame.

Yes, how do I find that?
Seriously... because I don't know.

I haven't smelled anything so interesting or strange for a long time :

The Haneen starts with an incredibly natural hazelnut, but not this artificial Nutella note, but a real unshelled hazelnut that tastes quite bitter because of this dark brown "skin". There may also be some oats or other cereals in the mix. There is a freshness in the background that I can't really define.

Over the course of 10-20 minutes, the ratio completely reverses.

Now it becomes clear: eucalyptus! But not just a little bit, but once again full on the twelve! The nutty, cereal note resonates in the background. Ah and patchouli, yes, that's still there too.

Relatively restrained sillage, average persistence.

Overall, a very special fragrance that I can't really categorize and therefore refrain from rating.

Sometimes I check...
Sometimes I test and grade people, sometimes perfumes.

Both times, it's not just the performance itself that's important, but also the context.

If someone does their best, shows commitment and ultimately doesn't perform well, then so be it. That's fine and not a bad thing. The examinee is not a bad person and I know that other things are more important. So what?

But if someone who could actually do better gives me a lousy performance in a totally unmotivated and indifferent manner, then I get annoyed at the disrespect shown.

It is precisely this feeling that "By Terry" has turned into a "perfume" here.

Unmotivated, uninspired, indifferent, you are offered just enough here to be awarded the rating "sufficient", but without any recognition of will to fight or the like. - This is just as lacking as durability or sillage.

A fresh laundry fragrance that has been smelled a thousand times before, with a few incredibly artificial and cheap maritime notes that would have been just enough for "Meister Proper Oceanfresh".

I can tolerate something like that as deodorant for 13-year-olds, but when it's sold to me as "perfume"...

Yes, then I get annoyed.

My dog is scared.
Introduction :

I had a "big, bad, black dog", at least that was the perception of some dog owners. My "mouse" was playing with another dog in the meadow, the two of them were shredding around, it was a delight!

Then the dog owner came along: "Can you call your dog back? My dog is scared!"

... you don't even notice it.

About the Silver Oud :

Based on the fragrance notes, the reviews and perhaps also the price, one expects a wild monster that bares its teeth, takes no prisoners and is untameable. But then this muscular creature comes closer and reveals a soul so tender you want to melt and a heart so golden you can hardly believe it.

The opening is briefly a little indefinable, like a joyful greeting ritual with lots of tail wagging. But as soon as the initial sniffing is over, you recognize the scent.

For me : cold wood fire smoke still lingering in my clothes from the night before, old leather, unscented pipe tobacco, faint notes of vanilla in the distance and the promise "I could if I had to..." The oud is barely perceptible, rather sinking into the woody spice and giving a wonderful silky note, as if you were stroking black, short fur with a brush. Castoreum (castoreum)? I don't notice any of that.

Beautiful, strong, warm, protective.

Because of all the reviews, I was expecting Rambo - and got James Bond.

After the greeting, the black monster lies down and stays with you. Surprisingly discreet and always there. But never loud, never annoying. If you were in a restaurant, the people at the neighboring table would only notice "Oha! There was something that was always lurking near me". - That's the sillage.

The longevity is like a dog's life: insanely loyal and far too short.

Thank you for this wonderful disappointment and reminder.
