Modern but classic

I bought this perfume with 0 expectations, I tested it in a shop previously but on a paper and seemed nice, I said .. why not, what can go wrong with a 30€ purchase.

And then it all started to show: this is pure quality for a fraction of the cost, if this would have been sold by other "premium" brands it was for sure at least 5 times more.

This is a nice spicy sweet scent, similar to the OG EDT but with added goodies like hazelnut, fir needle and vetiver .. which do not change the dna dramatically but also do not remind one of the EDT.

It will last forever, so the 10-12 hours mark can be reached easily and will project too. I wonder why are not all the perfume houses releasing such a great price per value flanker now and then?

I do wonder if this an edit of Michel Almairac or Pierre Bourdon?

Joop Homme redefined!

This version of Joop Homme has nothing to do with the legend Joop Homme EDT which came out in 1989. This parfum is much more mature and modern. It has the same vibe as Jaques Bogart Silver Scent Deep. You can smell this creamy soda out of it which is caused by the hazelnut and the vanilla which give it that creamy smell. The longivity is very long 8+ hours and the sillage is very good. This scent is for fall, winter and early spring. Of course one can wear it in the summer but only with a few sprays because less means more. It is suitable to wear in the office and for night out.
This eau de parfum is very attractive and is a compliment getter.

MODERN version of Joop Homme

I dont like OG version, cause is too oldschool and syntetic..EDP has similar DNA, but its a modern reimagination..I get mix of hazelnut, strong cinnamon sweet amber / vanilla and orange blossom is noticeable too .. This version isn't too harsh and smells more slicky and cremier. ALSO nuclear performance, maybe not a beast, but still above avarage!Modern version of OG is here. It can be in the same category like One Million i can say

My last blind buy.

Joop Eau De Parfum is my 3rd and last blind buy and is a prime example of why I now try to avoid buying things without trying them. Judging from the notes, it has almost everything I want. Honey, hazelnut, vanilla, and tonka? Sign me up baby. Unfortunately, to my nose it's identical to a medicinal cough/cherry syrup and I cannot get over that.

Yes it's sweet, and yes I pick up some gourmand facets, but this medicinal syrup smell just permeates throughout its entire wear. Maybe it smells better in the air, who knows, gave my bottle away so I can't test that. But I know as the wearer I just can't enjoy it. There's a part of me that really wants to, believe me. Because it's not unbearable. But at the same time it's not good, either.

Fragrantica says (from user votes) that this is similar to Stronger with You: Absolutely. No where near in my opinion. Maybe similar to the original Joop EDT, maybe?

It's a shame, because some people really enjoy it, and judging from reviews I can't understand why I don't like it. And so, my recommendation is simple. I usually recommend certain scents for people who enjoy gourmands, or people who enjoy fragrances of a similar type. In this case I recommend you try before you buy. Don't blind buy this one.

Or if you enjoy blind buying (you also probably enjoy avoiding landmines in a minefield ), proceed with some caution.

It smells almost like Nutella

I like classic Joop! Homme very much, but the supposedly modernized version of EDP did not win my heart. I don't even want to know what the supposedly best version of Le Parfum smells like, since the EDP seems very sweet to me.
The beginning itself is very strong, heavy and very sweet, but also quite interesting. You can clearly smell hazelnut, honey and vanilla. For a moment I feel the chocolate nuttiness known to me from my favorite Milka brand chocolate - Noisette - creamy hazelnut paste with milk chocolate. If anyone doesn't remember it, it's a similar scent chord that we feel when we stick our nose into a jar of Nutella.
However, the nuts disappear quite quickly and we have more of the classic, but with additions. We have a honey-vanilla cream bomb with slightly spicy cinnamon and orange blossom, then the scent is slightly smoothed out by creamy sandalwood.
The perfume is definitely for younger people and they must like sweetness. This is a strain that I would personally only use in winter, when it's frosty. As with refined, modern compositions, it is synthetic, but these perfumes are well priced in relation to the quality we get.
The parameters are at a high level, especially durability. The projection is initially large, but quickly dims and is clearly weaker than in the classic.
Classic Joop! Homme is still much better for me, but I'm not 20-25 anymore. Its modernized version EDP will appeal more to today's youth. This is a weaker classic with the addition of nuts and honey in the top notes. For fans of the classics, there is nothing more interesting here.
