The Impresario Among Chypres
"Of all the wonders that the world had to offer, only art promised immortality"
Sergei Diaghilev (1872-1929)

Truly a masterpiece that is unmatched. It is no coincidence that this great Roja bears the name of the most powerful impresario in the world: Sergei Diaghilev! Diaghilev was a sort of general expert on art and the spirit of the times at the dawn of the early 20th century. One who changed the world.

He provided various arts with new platforms and new possibilities. And besides God, he knew the whole world. Naturally.

Thus, his name is associated with modern composers such as Debussy, Satie, and Igor Stravinsky. The latter's L’Après-midi d’un faune, danced by Nijinsky, simply seems paradisiacal.

He traveled the entire world; his friends included Picasso, Cocteau, as well as rulers, kings, and agas.

Therefore, this fragrance can only be of intoxicating beauty, intellectual depth, and olfactory heights to do justice to this great name.

And what can I say? It is.

The Time Between Night and Dream...
I actually didn't expect much, a fragrance for women, pink in an elegant bottle, only the description here had piqued my curiosity. But how wonderfully I have been surprised.

It starts with fig, it stays with fig, and it lasts long with fig. But from which world does this wonderful fig scent come? Because I have never experienced a scent like this before. A delicacy, a sweetness that never feels exaggerated or even intrusive.

A quiet aura surrounds this fragrance and it remains present for a long time. The orange brushes against me lightly, I perceive vetiver.

A powdery scent and a phenomenal fragrance. One wants to sink into this scent, like in a magnificent velvet divan between night and day. A twilight in which one wants to linger...perhaps even forever...
I love this fragrance...

A perfect day
Only a small sample was included with my order. It was Scherrer's Nuits Indiennes. A women's perfume. I suspected it would be yet another pink/yellow generic scent. I only love Scherrer (a Chypre fan says hello)...
But when I sprayed the fragrance, I was transported to another world. And no, it was less oriental than it was exactly in my reality.

It's not a good day, you've gotten up on the wrong side of the bed, maybe too little sleep, your project isn't going as it should - in short, it is the opposite of a perfect day.

Until this scent envelops you...I close my eyes and images of a perfect world emerge. Floral, yes, but not too sweet. Like a wonderful garden with rare and unknown plants and formations. A gentle veil of inimitable elegance weaves through the space. It gives things a positive attitude AND good thoughts - what seemed heavy before now comes lightly. The jasmine, which usually drives me away, now appears familiar and wonderful in its intensity. Should I have underestimated it, or is it just the successful interplay of all the ingredients into a secret formula that aims for world domination?

I don't know, but the day I discovered Scherrer's Nuits Indiennes for myself became a perfect day.

Praise be to Parfumo and a long journey...
Years ago, I purchased this fragrance simply because I was so taken with the color, this mossy deep green in the simple yet elegant glass bottle. In the first days, I wore it around the clock; I couldn't bear to part with it. It was as if this scent took me into a deep cave with the earth spirits, from which I never wanted to emerge. This fragrance was magical, no, rather mystical.

Those around me pointed out that this scent was more suited for guys in flannel shirts.
So I let myself be persuaded and gifted it to just such a person.

I got the 2017 version, and I liked it exceptionally well. It had the essence of the 2012, but seemed lighter and more suitable for women.

However, after some time, I began to feel restless inside.
After a year, I ordered my first decant. A year later, I got the next one. Then it happened that I no longer liked the 2017 version as much. It was overnight. And I still regretted having given away the original scent.

This fragrance, which was such a treasure for me. When I smell it, it feels as if I need nothing else in this world. Then everything is enough for me...

This scent is clearly herbaceous (hello ICON), I also count lavender among that, it is citrusy at the start, but soon the myrrh and patchouli come in. It is a successful blend of sage, fairy tales, and myth. Not of this world. And not for lumberjacks. Because actually, this is how elves, fairies, and dragon kings smell.

Thanks to Parfumo, I have now been able to snag a bottle. The journey continues...

Freedom, as I perceive it...
First of all: it is not a women's fragrance, but in my opinion a unisex scent. A fragrance that bridges the past and the modern age. Familiar yet wonderfully new. Indeed, the opening with mandarin and lavender is very pleasing; it reminds me a bit of ZINO Davidoff and, to a lesser extent, Beau de Jour. That's the lavender, which I don't necessarily attribute masculine qualities to; I love it, and I think many women feel the same way. As I read now, this type of lavender is called DIVA, how wonderful. Divas exist among both women and men... :-)

As it develops, it feels straight; I feel good and strong when I smell it. There is a certain elegance to it. Freedom, for me, always goes hand in hand with rebellion, which I miss. But what does it matter if the scent is pleasing? I like the composition, and it is one of the few women's fragrances that I wear.
