Bravo Guerlain for bringing back a highly requested scent you discontinued! Now do that again with "Iris Ganache | Guerlain" and we'll be gooooolden.

I never tried "Les Élixirs Charnels - Gourmand Coquin | Guerlain" before buying this new version but I decided to buy it anyway and have my friend send me a small decant of the original so I could make a comparison between the two. I have to say, the difference, if there is one, is entirely too subtle for me to pick up. Maybe I'm not the most careful, but I've now worn each of them 3 times, and it just feels like I wore the same perfume 6 times.

Both of them smell like baking a chocolate cake and drinking black tea. It's steamy and boozy and scrumptious, and difficult to describe. Don't hesitate to try it for yourself.

It is gorgeous as heck, I have zero regrets, despite the enormous price tag. Totally worth it, to me.

Not to brag or nothin' but this perfume was totally my idea. Hold your applause, please, I didn't make it. My friend and I were looking all over for a real "nutella" type fragrance and tried all the recommended usuals, and unusuals, but nothing was quite hitting the spot. They were too perfumey, not chocolaty enough, or just plain bad. So I emailed Kyse and asked them if they had anything like it and they said no but that's a great idea for the next one! Well I didn't expect the kind folks at Kyse to ACTUALLY do it (for some reason, but they've restored my faith in humanity) so, when I learned of the release of Cacao Noisette, I immediately blind bought two bottles, one for me and one for my friend.

I, personally, am not a huge gourmand fiend. I do love sweet perfumes, don't get me wrong, but the food aspect isn't my favorite, though I do have some really good ones like "Over the Chocolate Shop | 4160 Tuesdays" so I didn't really wear this since the time it came out thinking it's just a cute little novelty. Well I just sprayed it on a little bit ago and my honest opinion is that it is heavenly! It is so well balanced and delicious smelling, it's almost like I spread some nutella on toast instead of spraying perfume. Am I becoming a gourmand girly?

If you are looking for a nutella fragrance, this *is* the one!

I hated this when I first tried it a few years ago (why would I want to smell like pickles? Yuck). But then I kept trying it. I'd get another sample one way or another and keep trying it, there was just something special about it I couldn't put my finger on. Then I gave up and got rid of all my samples and decants at once, giving it one more try as it was out the door, and of course in that moment it finally *clicked*.

Just past the dill pickle opening is the smoothest, most velvety suede which totally captures me. I still get whiffs of that sourness, but instead of being mad at it, now I'm happy it's there, creating the perfect counterbalance to the smoothness. It's that dynamic, that bracing bright hot sunlight and the cool shadow relief that brings great pleasure once understood. I've been going for more meditative fragrances lately and this fits right in. If that is your bend, I also recommend Olfactive Studios Autoportrait (not a smell-alike, just similarly zen).

You are about to eat a big juicy, perfectly ripe, lusciously sweet pear, but right before you take a bite, someone wearing Mon Guerlain walks past you and you briefly admire the scent. Suddenly, you remember the pear and take a huge bite, savoring it. You unconsciously start following the scent trail of Mon Guerlain, noticing it from time to time, until you happen upon fragrant bouquets of flowers. While finishing up your pear, licking the juice off your fingers, you lean in for a long, luxuriant sniff.

I was so excited about this one! It's okay. I was hoping for a voluptuous LVEB Lipstick scent, but what I got was a very tame LVEB. It's fine, I'm just a little disappointed in it.

It has a fruity opening, which I guess is fig, and is the most interesting part of it. I don't really get much iris compared to the original, which is odd. It's sweet throughout, smells like LVEB, only less polarizing, less strong, less projecting. If I really focus, I can catch a whiff of iris.

Maybe I'm spoiled by the new Shalimar Millésime Iris exceeding my expectations that I thought I could get lucky with another iris offering.
