Powdery Iris

I was never a fan of the original perfume, but I do enjoy this version of La Vie est Belle.

I smell Iris first, and the projection is good. The scent trails behind me when I walk according to my family. In comes a powdery creaminess that is much softer and still quite lovely. I pick up a vanilla that’s not in the scent notes.

I never noticed the jasmine sambac, but it does register as “milky” to some degree even though that’s a hard note to describe. It’s very well blended together.

In all, I’m not sure if I’d buy a large bottle of it, but it is enjoyable.

OPULENCE: YOU OWN EVERYTHING!

In my opinion, this flanker stands out as the best fragrance in the La Vie Est Belle lineup.

I initially enjoyed the first formulation of original La Vie Est Belle; it had a captivating smoky chocolate scent upon its release. However, over time, I couldn't discern if I grew accustomed to it or if they altered the formula. Subsequently, all I could detect was a chaotic blend of fruity and sugary notes. However, La Vie est Belle Iris Absolu flanker is exceptional.

Delightful milky chocolate with woody hazelnut undertones and patchouli. The iris introduces a slightly powdery element, with rooty vegetable facets in the opening and a dry down resembling expensive cosmetics. The black currant note is jammy and velvety.

The bottle has a pleasing weight to it, and the scent is OPULENT, darling!

Not as nice as I hoped

I was so excited about this one! It's okay. I was hoping for a voluptuous LVEB Lipstick scent, but what I got was a very tame LVEB. It's fine, I'm just a little disappointed in it.

It has a fruity opening, which I guess is fig, and is the most interesting part of it. I don't really get much iris compared to the original, which is odd. It's sweet throughout, smells like LVEB, only less polarizing, less strong, less projecting. If I really focus, I can catch a whiff of iris.

Maybe I'm spoiled by the new Shalimar Millésime Iris exceeding my expectations that I thought I could get lucky with another iris offering.

You smell really good!

Not another new version of LVEB...! That was my first thought when I spotted the "new" sign at the Lancôme shelf. Isn't the scent long out of style, as sweet as it is and sticking to women everywhere for years...?
Well, I was at the airport and still had plenty of time, so okay, a spritz on the white cardboard strip and let's see. Wow, so powdery, so fresh-fine, no heavy punch, actually pleasant. The base scent definitely came through nicely after a few minutes, but this iris version has far more elegance for me. I sprayed three spritzes on my neck and happily walked to the gate. A few hours later, when I greeted my son and we embraced, I received a very nice scent compliment from him. Still in the car, he sniffed around me and deemed the scent "really really great".
Unfortunately, I didn't buy a bottle at the airport and now have to wait until it's available in stores. But I'm already looking forward to it...
By the way, the bottle is a lovely eye-catcher with its ribbed glass grooves.

The powdery aspect unfortunately fell short..

Last week I visited a perfume shop and checked out what new scents there are in the men's section. Of course, I also looked in the women's section since I enjoy testing women's fragrances as well. While passing by, I saw the new "La Vie est Belle Iris Absolu | Lancôme." Since I like scents with iris, such as Dior Homme Intense (2007) and "Valentino Uomo Intense (2016) | Valentino," I thought this one could be interesting even though it's a women's fragrance. I quickly sprayed the scent on a test strip and thought, wow, what a wonderful iris. I liked the scent so much that I even ordered a decant. When the decant arrived, I sprayed the scent on myself. The fragrance starts powdery and clear; the La Vie est Belle L'Eau de Parfum DNA is undeniable-a mix of powdery and the La Vie est Belle L'Eau de Parfum DNA. To me, it even smells a bit like "Sì (Eau de Parfum) | Giorgio Armani," probably the blackcurrant that you recognize from "Sì (Eau de Parfum) | Giorgio Armani." Unfortunately, the powdery aspect fades away eventually, and the scent becomes sweeter and more intrusive, almost giving me a headache, which I find very unfortunate. Longevity and sillage are very good. I believe if that wonderful powderiness had remained like at the beginning and not turned into this sweet intrusiveness afterward, I would have even bought a full bottle. Still, I don't want to speak poorly of the fragrance and find it much better compared to the regular "La Vie est Belle L'Eau de Parfum | Lancôme." But I probably won't end up purchasing it.
