Ex morte, vita renascitur
Green
Color of hope
Falling cherry blossoms in the rain
An abandoned wooden temple
Small smoke boats in the water
Contemplative silence
*
This fragrance is so much more to me than the story in the shop suggests.
It is sorrow over transience, and at the same time hope.
It can do something that I have only known from Lutens' 'De Profundis' so far.
It can help process grief.
In terms of scent, it is of course completely different, but it carries a similar message.
It is an anchor when you face the pain,
threatening to sink into melancholy and sadness.
*
The cherry blossoms are wilting,
washed from the branches by the rain
and covering the ground.
With the moisture of the rain, the green begins to sprout.
Look outside.
It is happening right now.
*
It is a scent of silence,
just for me.
Inner reflection.
If I were to wear it among people,
it would be to a funeral.
*
A wooden temple,
just filled with people,
now stands abandoned.
A forest grave...
The urn buried beneath a Japanese cherry blossom tree. A blossom branch on it is wilting.
Juicy green, nourished by the rain, and many tears, slowly covers the grave mound.
Within the green is also an unpleasant moment.
The pain of loss.
Small wooden boats with incense drift past a stream.
Souls on journeys into another form of existence.
The incense mist wraps around you like a protective blanket.
Time of forgetting,
of inner reflection,
of acceptance.
Everything will be alright.
*
A powdery-floral hint of cedar permeates the air...
Carrying sprouting green within it...
It is spring again in Kyoto,
the cherry blossoms will soon bloom again.
The gravesite full of life.
You were loved.
*
Ex morte, vita renascitur
From death, life is reborn.

Once Upon a Time...
Once Upon a Time...
Es war einmal...
Da fanden sich...

Leather traces in the iris dust.
A Chypre girl,
a bit shabby,
her cheeks smeared with soot,
hidden in an amber cave.
Stroke her vanilla-soft hair.

Once upon a time...
Es war einmal,
Coty released a beautiful amber fragrance in a charming Lalique bottle.
Well, it’s been a while since I shattered my copy, and the memory is distant.
This one smells a bit vintage,
it’s not an exact reissue.
The scent is lightly Chypre-tinged,
which creates this retro impression.
Amber and flowers one might say,
but here it’s iris,
where other flowers used to be,
lighter, airier in the old days, but this suede iris here
is no less beautiful.
The new one is heavier,
a bit vanilla-sweet,
but not too sweet.
Slightly smoky,
with just the right amount of suede.
Soot is now rather exaggerated,
but the scent has something romantic,
that reminds me of fairy tales,
hence the choice of words.
A very successful reinterpretation for me for all,
who like iris with vanilla amber,
and cozy scents.
In the base perhaps closer to Shalimar,
than to the old Coty amber,
with a subtle leather patina,
and a little bit shabby.
The bottle here is also a dream.

Retro Synthetic Vibes
The jukebox is playing
Granny Smith is alive
Let's have some apple wine
Wanna have milk and alcohol
Bieber in a bathrobe

Didn't anyone tell you that milk curdles with fruit acid?
A really quirky piece.
The wrinkles on the forehead are crossing as I try to grasp something...
Uh, there's something.
Fresh. Green...
But what a green.
And a bit perfumey-floral.
A blink into the DuPy... Ahhh apples...
Definitely Granny Smith, they've always been a bit odd.
Something like apple wine in a faded oak barrel fits too...
But then...
The DuPy isn't helping in this case.
A look at the website.
Not all the notes are listed.
Now I'm at a loss. Looking at the ingredients, waiting to see if anything rings a bell...
One more spray on the skin.
Let the apples pass by....
The old oak barrel...
Enjoying the green on the side.
The liver is screaming...
where's the apple wine?
The wrinkles on the forehead are crossing again...
What is this floral impression?
Now calm down, it's the Grannies, they’ve perfumed themselves.
The esophagus is whining...
I always get heartburn from apple wine
(Stomach: Oops),
please order milk...
Stomach: Come on, esophagus...
But I definitely need some white bread with that.
Fingers secretly reach for the bowl on the table, popping one or two nuts in the mouth to keep them busy.
The liver is happily processing its apple wine.
The esophagus is soothed, and the stomach is struggling through the curdled milk, along with fruit acid,
happy about the sparse nuts.
Bieber should have sung, but by now he’s in his bathrobe and has fallen asleep.
I think the stomach couldn't have handled any more.
In the end, a bit of air escapes, and a really nice tonka bean...

Any similarities to Otto's side have crept in, but I certainly don't mind them.

What you really perceive clearly are the green apples, also apple wine and a minimal barrel note is plausible.
There was a time when green apple was really popular in fragrances, but whether that's really what needs to be brought back?
That makes the scent seem very synthetic.
With a bit of imagination, certain roasted aromas can be recognized, more grain-like, sometimes you can interpret a nutty note.
The milk is more like plant milk.
The apple lasts relatively long.
I might also find a hint of woodruff.
But whether the scent is worth exploring further, I'm not sure yet.
The beaver has indeed slept through everything. I don't even notice him.
And yes, it could be tonka, bringing a very slight sweetness into play.
Just paired with a hint of woodruff-coumarin.
None of this bothers me when it's on my skin, but I wouldn't need to have it either.
It's a pity, because I would actually like the finish.

This is what the South smells like
This is what the South smells like.
Crystal clear, cool water flows in streams from the mountains of Corsica.
The aroma of herbs and zesty citrus fruits,
flower streams driven by the wind.
**
Wow, what a summer scent. I would wish that the entire fragrance stayed like the opening, but I am also thrilled with the flowers later on, and that despite the neroli.
At first almost a cologne, but it is much more than that.
A pinch of pepper in the opening, a masterpiece of a citrus-herb freshness.
And although it is not very loud, it surprisingly holds these notes well.
Later it becomes softer, giving the flowers clear space. At no point does it drift into insignificance.
This Ambrofix is responsible for the sparkling freshness of a mountain water, and a very, very gentle amber note in the base.
It feels like molecules that I perceive far from any synthetic are incorporated into this wonderful perfume.
The longevity depends on where you spray it. In the hair, it lasts forever.
Let summer come.

The Blooming Gardens of Barbicaja
The blooming gardens of Barbicaja above the bay of Corsica.
Green,
harsh, like the cooling evening air.
A hint of warmth from cut grass.
Vacation
**
A lush abundance of white flowers that does not feel overwhelming to me.
Lovely accents of apricot.
A slightly watery note, whether from the flowers or perhaps a touch of synthetic, which is so delicately integrated that it does not bother me.
Wonderful green accompanies it, which initially feels very harsh. I think of an addition of galbanum. Here I briefly have very old fragrances in mind. But only for this one aspect.
Later, the green becomes softer, sometimes reminiscent of grass.
It becomes more lovely, a light sweetness mixes in, like nectar.
The green remains until the end, minimally supported by vetiver, ensuring it never becomes too sweet or too cloying. Very soft cedar fits well.
Vanilla, perhaps a few sprinkles, never becomes gourmand.
I cannot explicitly identify patchouli. It may just ground the fragrance and give it depth.

A truly wonderful scent, with a wonderful dance
from yesterday into today.
