Café creme sil vous plait
Like a tonka milk coffee soufflé in a nostalgic Parisian café overlooking the Seine. I perceive neither cherry nor bay leaf (I probably associate bay leaf with Armani Mania femme). I get a delicate milk coffee note or a Viennese mélange with a hint of Monin caramel syrup! Delicate heliotrope powders the milk foam crown. A really beautiful, subtle candidate with moderate longevity. Stronger sillage, yes then it would be a candidate for purchase. It’s also a cross that the fragrances I usually like so much have such a "shy" sillage. But most of the time they have good longevity, so after testing several I often hit a wall and I no longer know which fragrance it was. Hmm now I get this lipstick iris note comparable to Just Gold for Her (Cavalli). Great scent, great interplay!

Recently at Duty Free
...no, unfortunately I don't spend half my life at the airports of this world...even if it sounds that way lately. In any case, I was once again drawn to this scent at Duty Free. Almost 20 years on the market and never in my hands. Yes, it is definitely a summer fragrance. I perceive this fuel as youthful and floral, with a mandarin that I find very lovely in fragrances lately, being the most prominent at first. There’s something floral but also a twist of patchy spice and woody pepper. It doesn't have the strongest sillage, yet I could still smell the fragrance during the flight when I sniffed at my wrist. Despite the winter temperatures, I simply can't indulge exclusively in vanilla, cinnamon, and spicy scents. I always need a little piece of summer even under thick clothes. Yes, most likely I will get this fuel purely for "melancholic" reasons, because it always reminds me of the outbound flight to my second home...the next one unfortunately still takes 7 months.

Let’s Dream...
Unfortunately, another fragrance that has immediately captured my heart... striving for reduction and minimalism, my sample arrived yesterday. Once sprayed, I knew right away, a powdery, vanillic scent that is very harmonious. There is no maybe about it. For me, it has nothing at all to do with the original Shalimar, which my former colleague wore as her signature scent starting in November. I personally do not perceive a leathery note. Powdery vanilla that lays on the skin like velvet. No vintage vibes. A hint of bergamot can be sensed. A perfect candidate for the time starting in November. You come home frozen and look forward to a warm bath, your favorite blanket on the couch. Vanilla remains the star here. It may be that die-hard Shalimar fans find this version too simplistic. I actually like this straightforwardness. Currently, I love powdery vanilla scents. Still, I will let my mind take over... whether I really need a bottle after the sample... you will see or not. Sweet dreams to you all.

When the Mandarin Falls into the Tonka Vanilla Bed
Earthy??? But where???. I am greeted here by a tipsy mandarin, is it the patch...who knows, almost Christmas-like like Tonka Reminiscence. Surprisingly, I am hit by the really beautiful range of tonka vanilla here. Surprise from the house of le Couvent! Nevertheless, it's not a room-filling sillage monster, le Couvent is all about refined restraint. Personally, I really like the scent, as it's wearable all season and every day. It would be too boring to wear vanilla tonka from head to heart to base. For me, it's a daily scent like Lacoste pour femme, always works, conveys a sense of security, classically beautiful, never gets boring.

In the Elf Forest
The little red-haired elf in a shimmering dress is resting in the Elf Forest under a rhubarb leaf. Mugler fragrances, either you love them or you hate them. This aura is woodruff green and, if you wish, takes you for a day into the realm of fairies and elves. I perceive a hard-to-describe plant leaf note, rhubarb or perhaps a hint of woodruff... like when my mom used to make me green jelly in the summer. The scent has this atypical vanilla that tries to overlay the leaf green. Sweet but still fruity green. On my skin, the fragrance projects very strongly, like all Muglers. I will use it sparingly. A bottle is out of the question for me (the look and it would be used far too rarely anyway), yet there are days in the year when I want to smell like a fantasy creature.
