Peppery jasmine and mandarin

Although this fragrance isn't the most likable scent around, it sure is popular. Before becoming interested in fragrances, I had always noticed this fragrance on the shelves and noted how many people bought it on a daily basis.

I was surprised by the opening notes which really turned me off this fragrance. I was assaulted by strong and peppery citrus which to my nose was rather synthetic. For about the first three hours all I got was a loud concoction of peppery fruits and predictable and plain jasmine. I was indeed underwhelmed by Fuel for Life.

However, the drydown was quite pretty. The scent became warm and powdery, also a little sweet. The base notes agreed with my chemistry and also smelt agreeable on paper. Looking at many of the other reviews, I'm not alone in my appraisal of the drydown.

Unfortunately, even though the base notes are nice, after a while the scent began to smell like air freshner mixed with the musty and dirty scent of a bathroom.

I'm disappointed in Diesel for creating such a scent. I find their cheaper and lesser known scents more pleasing to say the least. Strangely enough I can see how this would be pleasant for some, however I just can't seem to like it myself.

Expect nothing

My bottle came without the ‘sweater’ or whatever it is that they have wrapped it in. It looks cute, but I bought it without, apparently. Nevertheless, it cannot make it up for the smell, which is, on good days, a mystery. I like when a fragrance performs more or less the same way every time you spray it. This does not - on my skin. I have tested it several times and I get a new picture every time. Today, it is the jasmine, that dominates. Last time it was the mandarine orange. The longevity also varies a lot, and it is not due to weather conditions.
So this is not a fragrance I can recommend, if you want something safe. Expect nothing and be surprised - perhaps…

FUEL FOR LIFE FEMME - the bottle definitely catches the eye. This is surely a fragrance what works with your chemistry or not. Missk wrote, that a certain period of drydown was appealing for her, I am on the opposite site. If I were a beginner in world of perfumes, I would buy a bottle for the overture of FUEL FOR LIFE FEMME (and go bald after I realize, that finally I rather do not like it).

It is fresh, fruity with a lot of mandarin and black currant, and an enfolding, creamy musk. Pink pepper and patchouli were skipped on my skin. At the end the fragrance was really synthetic, and yes, it is similar to air freshener.

I had FUEL on one wrist, VERY IRRESISTIBLE ELECTRIC ROSE on another, and after 2 hours I could not make difference. After 3 hours I did not have to bother with differenciate, since both of them disappeared.

It's Love!

Years ago, I received a sample of this fragrance, which sat unused on my shelf for a long time. I was so skeptical about this scent, whether it was due to the omnipresent advertising or the unusual design, I can't remember exactly, but for some reason, it seemed quite suspicious to me. Back in 2007, I was more into sweeter teenage fragrances (just look at my collection, some of them are still around today), so when I heard that Fuel was a bit more robust, I thought, "No thanks, not for me."

About a year and a half ago, I entered my experimental phase and tested all the perfume samples that had accumulated over time. Among them was Fuel for Life. And it was love at first sniff! The scent was so different, so unique, so extravagant; I constantly had my nose on my wrist. God, it smells so good! Unfortunately, the sample ran out way too quickly, and I had to settle for sniffing the empty bottle, but I made a good resolution to buy Fuel as soon as my finances allowed! Unfortunately, my finances were quite tight, and it took a long time before I could put my plan into action...

But today it finally happened! I deliberately didn't wear any perfume, went to my trusted perfumery, and purposefully grabbed the box with the treasure from the shelf. Afterwards, I stood at the checkout with a beaming smile, and the cashier said it made her very happy to see someone so excited about perfume. As soon as I got home, I opened the little box and sprayed the first small spritz on my wrist and then strategically distributed it. Oh, beautiful, beautiful scent, how I have missed you!!! With you, I feel so grown-up and confident; besides, you have a decent dose of *rawr* ;)

Fuel for Life starts off very fruity for me. The mandarin and blackcurrant really put in a lot of effort during the first 15 minutes, but not shrill and annoyingly sweet; rather, it's a lively, pleasantly fresh-fruity opening. Still, from the very first spray, there's this warm, woody-spicy undertone that later, once the top notes have faded a bit, becomes the dominant heart note. The pink pepper adds a very interesting spiciness; I believe the fascination this scent exerts on me is strongly due to the perfectly balanced pepper. Overall, this fragrance feels like a wonderfully perfectly balanced tightrope walk between woody-spicy and feminine. Even my mom, who is a declared N°5 snob and has found something to criticize in all my previous perfumes - too sweet, too bright, too powdery, too whatever - was thrilled when I held my wrist under her nose. She said the scent was very grown-up, but somehow also young and therefore anything but boring. In any case, she thinks the scent suits me very well. Yippee! ^_^

I believe Fuel for Life Femme has a very good chance of becoming "my" scent. From now on, we are definitely inseparable! :)

Sex Appeal in a Bottle

I don’t understand at all why this fragrance receives such bad reviews here; I find it very convincing and couldn’t say no during the first sniff and absolutely HAD to bring it home the following day.
I find it very tough and expressive. I like to wear it in my everyday life and feel just a bit sexier because of it.
The scent is for strong women who know what they want.
