On an Island...
The sound of the sea. The water in front of me sparkles in the orange glow of the sun, as if thousands of diamonds are floating on it. A fresh breeze sweeps over the vastness of the sea towards me, blending with the scent of the citrus groves in the hinterland into a beautiful melange. Life can be so carefree…
Next to me lies my stunning companion, stretching out in the sand. What a pity it would be to enjoy this scene alone! She is unique. Her perfect body, gently covered in sand, exudes an elegantly creamy woody veil. Defined curves and a long slender neck fit perfectly into the exotic landscape. Comparable to a youthful fruitiness that is unmatched. Juicy and sweet at the same time! Irresistible, if it weren't for that certain awkwardness... She is still a bit green behind the ears. But I can remedy that if I just play with her often enough! I can't hold back much longer anyway!
My fingers are already tingling, and surrounded by all these summery fragrant aromas, I am overwhelmed. Rather, I grab her! With fervor and passion, I seize her neck. With a deft tug, I pull her onto my lap. I place one hand on her soft, woody-scented base, while my other hand gently encircles her creamy neck!
And then, yes then, I take a breath and play the most beautiful piece from my repertoire on my beloved guitar from the Hanika Manufaktur…:-)
**
Inspired by the blessed spring temperatures of the past few days, these lines were created for Bohemian Lime. A beautiful summer fragrance that also somewhat reminds me of The Tycoon by St Giles. Uncomplicated, refreshing, and hopeful in the sense that pragmatic and applicable solutions for the future will be found for the upcoming months. So that we can all experience a carefree and as worry-free summer as possible in these still very restricted and reduced times.

Free Fall
I stand at the edge of perception, the cliffs of reality.
Sharpened are the senses like an eagle.
Balsamic depth shines in the firmament.
The abyss before me - resinous, sweet, and velvety soft.
I let myself fall and drift, staggering and losing my grip.
Wood-soaked veils full of surreal psychedelic emotion.
Blurring reality, enchanting and intoxicating at the same time.
A carved reality that never existed and never will.
Succumbing to the fallacy of creamy illusion, desirable and so full of hope.
Deep blue light shimmers from the hoped-for world.
On mystical paths to me
It reaches me flickering and pure
Clarified shall my innermost self now be
For just as transience
Is a tear on the cheek of time
Gives sandy dust and warm amber
Once again much hope to the radiant being
Carved Oud represents for me an extremely exciting olfactory modification to OW. Even though the souls of both compositions have the same aesthetic origin, Carved Oud offers a certain tendency towards the oriental "desert scent"!
*carved thanks to NuiWhakakore for the test*

What Am I? Guess the Cheerful Perfume
The hall waits in anticipation for the start of the show. As the protagonist steps onto the stage, he is greeted with applause. Pausing briefly at the table, the guest takes a piece of chalk and writes his name on it: “Mr. Creed”, and simultaneously marks a check next to “Self-employed”. The host of the show, Mr. Johannes Bähre, warmly welcomes the guest and invites him to take a seat.
“So, let’s introduce you first,” explains the host, and lets a small gong sound next to him. Following this, the following text is displayed at the bottom of the screen:
King Ave -Batch 20E01-ntus
As the gong sounds a second time, the text disappears again.
The guessing jury, consisting of Ms. Jasmin Birke, Ms. Kasambra Van Ille, Mr. Pat Chouli, and Ms. Anna Nass, of course cannot see this display. Guessing and figuring it out is their task, the main component of the game. The jury may only ask questions that the candidate can answer with “Yes” or “No”. For every question answered with “No”, Mr. Creed receives 50 Parfumo Points. If he answers 10 questions with “No”, the guest wins. If the jury figures out which perfume is sitting here beforehand, logically, the jury wins.
“What little piggy would you like?” asks the host Mr. Creed. “I’ll take the yellow one,” he replies, adjusting himself comfortably in his chair. “Then let’s get started. But first, may I ask you for a typical hand gesture?” Johannes Bähre prompts the guest. The guest then reaches for an imaginary knob with his hand and pushes it forward as if he were opening a door...
“Thank you very much,” Mr. Bähre acknowledges the gesture and promptly asks Ms. Jasmin Birke to start with the first question.
“Mr. Creed,” starts Birke. “Have you been in the perfume business for a long time?”
The respondent confirms the question with a clear “Yes.”
“Long is a relative term. Have you been on the market for more than 10 years?”
“I wish I had, but unfortunately I haven’t. So, No,” the candidate replies disappointedly.
The host then adds 50 Parfumo Points to the yellow piggy and reveals number 1 on his score sheet!
“Now, Ms. Anna Nass may ask the next question,” the host continues.
“Sure. Are you a fruity fellow?” Anna Nass wants to know, which is clearly confirmed with a “Yes.”
“Is my name coincidentally also found in your scent potpourri?”
“Of course,” comes Mr. Creed’s response as if shot from a gun.
“How nice. I’m very pleased to hear that. I am indeed highly sought after,” Nass babbles.
“Are you possibly a gourmand?” The question is denied in shock, and another 50 Parfumo Points go into the yellow pig. Number 2 appears on the score sheet.
“Now it’s Mr. Pat Chouli’s turn,” Johannes Bähre prompts the jury member.
“OK. Mr. Creed, are you an olfactory milestone?”
Hardly has Pat asked the question, Creed shifts in his chair and counters:
“Yes, of course. What do you think, which personality is sitting in front of you?”
“Alright. So, you have rendered a special service to humanity?”
“Absolutely! What kind of question is that?” the King retorts.
“Is it a men’s fragrance?”
“Of course, it doesn’t get more masculine than this,” he grunts loudly into the studio.
“Could it be that you are a so-called pantydropper?” asks the factually and soberly appearing Pat Chouli. That hit the mark! The King, visibly irritated by the question, turns to the host for help. After a brief whispering between the two, the commentator evasively answers the question in a way that “you can’t really say that...so, No.”
Bam, another 50 Parfumo Points added. Next, Ms. Kasambra Van Ille takes the floor.
“Are you a door opener, Mr. Creed? Your initial gesture suggested that.”
“Yes, definitely,” the guest arrogantly confirms the question.
“And have you coincidentally been reformulated often?” adds Van Ille cheekily, with a nasty grin on her face.
“Damn, I hate that question,” the protagonist replies. “But yes, unfortunately too often!”
“Therefore, does your quality suffer as a result?” Kasambra wants to know.
“Not at all, No!” Creed retorts. “You have to stick to the truth,” Johannes Bähre admonishes the guest harshly. “We have to answer this question in the affirmative,” the host explains to the jury, and hands it back to Ms. Van Ille.
“OK. Mr. Creed. I have a few general questions now. Are you a smoker?”
“Yes”
“Birch tar smoker?”
“Yes, exactly,” the King admits almost exasperated.
“So you are fresh fruity, smoky, and also creamy woody?”
“That’s all true,” confirms Batch 20E01N.
“That means you are a well-rounded perfume that smells good, is gladly worn, and is liked by many?!” The protagonist, almost flattered, joyfully confirms everything with “Yes, but you can count on that.”
“Then I would like to present a solution now,” Kasambra exclaims excitedly. “In front of us sits the one and only King Ave-ntus!! However, I can’t name a batch number. You’ve been reformulated too often for that...but due to your high level of recognition, we recognized you quite quickly!”
Those attentive and somewhat older readers may have noticed my reference to the popular TV guessing game from the 70s and 80s. Furthermore, I wrote these lines with a wink, more as a small homage. I myself have only known Aventus for just over a year. Therefore, this perfume is anything but clichéd, outdated, interchangeable, trivial, and characterless for me. I view Aventus apart from all the clichés attributed to it and perceive the perfume as a successful work.

Go with the (green) Flow
Surrender to the flow of life and let yourself be swept away by what comes. A very inviting notion, and in today's world probably only feasible for most to a limited extent. At least in my life, it's a real challenge, as the flow is repeatedly interrupted. But how does one even get into the right "flow"?
From an olfactory perspective, the flow regarding scents and perfumes unexpectedly hit me a few weeks ago when a valued Parfumo colleague sent me a sample of Mousse Illuminee.
When I tested the fragrance along with a few others, the work by Rogue didn't initially stand out to me in terms of scent. It was only when I left the room and then returned that I noticed it; this all-encompassing fragrance carpet was wafting through the air...
It was like the ultimate awakening, and I thought to myself...Wow, this almost reveals a piece of what I have always been searching for olfactorily. Thus, I found myself in the flow - instantly and full of enthusiasm!
Mousse Illuminee chains you in a positive sense, holds you tight, and takes you on a shimmering journey. It is not the wearer who carries this fragrance, but the fragrance that carries the wearer! A fundamental principle! Because as soon as the fragrance molecules pass through the atomizer and come into contact with the environment, it means diving into a sea of green lights full of breathtaking beauty. Ethereal green glowing freshness emerges, resembling an emerald forest full of grace and magic. But beware, as the initial sharpness, enormous herbaceousness, and at times biting scent can quickly be perceived as unpleasant or equated with excessive animalic notes. But more on that later.
Mousse Illuminee takes its time. The longer you wear it, the more beautiful, authentic, and purist it becomes.
For the true magic, which the creator Manuel Cross masterfully captures, and which makes the fragrance almost visionary for me, is the inherent spirit of the forest. Do you know those images of forest gods, whose faces are made up of leaves arranged in a circular pattern, with pointed lips as if they are exhaling wind? I think of such a figure when I think of MI...mystical, enchanting, and mysterious!
This phenomenon arises from the oak moss, which is so grandly staged here, giving the fragrance this extraordinary aura. Fantastic!
Regarding the topic of urea-containing aromas in the fragrance, statements often mention "pissing," "pee," "marking," "spraying"...:-)
This is, by the way, a Bavarian term, a sensational expression, and means the same as "a'gseicht," which translates to being sprinkled.
But enough of these urinal terminologies, as I believe they are more than inappropriate and entirely unsuitable for this wondrous fragrance!
It solely lies in the intense opening of MI that allows for this assumption. I do not perceive these scent notes in any way. On the contrary. MI needs this intensity to showcase its enormous longevity. It truly lasts all day! So caution is advised when dosing, as MI decorates everything organic and inorganic in its vicinity with its molecules...
No, that's not true, of course. But too much spray can quickly lead to social exclusion!
The label owner Manuel Cross has succeeded in creating a brilliant old-school powerhouse fragrance with a modern, and for me almost visionary twist. I wholeheartedly agree with my predecessor Mrs. Holle: Best fragrance!
However, I must disagree with her on one thing: she does not have all the bottles; one is with me...:-)
I would like to thank my now almost mentor Floyd, who first brought this label to my attention, as well as the esteemed Mr. Bloodxclat, who sent me this seemingly inconspicuous sample many weeks ago!
*It is time to start something new and trust in the magic of beginnings*

Quercia - The Oak
The venerable gnarled oak. It has stood for centuries on the sunlit hill in the summer-glimmering mixed forest. It has seen much over the years, and time has marked it. Deep grooves in the firm bark, hollowed out by other creatures. Yet the strong branches are widely branched, and the root system leans deep into the earth.
Its resilience has made it what it is today. Mystical and mysterious, it is regarded as the king of the forests. Since time immemorial, it has been attributed to the highest deities, embodying strength, power, and permanence in full bloom.
Many legendary stories surround its form, and its heroic appearance has always drawn people into the forest!
The oak symbolizes a strong and self-sufficient anchor of tranquility...
****
Quercia also embodies for me a beautiful anchor of tranquility. A fragrance that carries the name of such a stately tree means something. However, Quercia is certainly not to be equated with a classic forest scent. Not at all! Nevertheless, upon closer examination, I can indeed draw an olfactory bridge to the oak...
The fresh and citrusy welcome reveals a harmonious presence. The opening is authentic, just like an oak. Hardly have I made myself comfortable under the tree crown, when this wonderful, softly spicy veil of Quercia joins in. It gives the fragrance lasting space and the necessary depth. The wood of the tree is alive, it breathes, which is expressed through the excellently balanced bitter, slightly angular woodiness. Paired with a moderate sweetness, the impression of a tree in full bloom emerges. Surely, the tonka bean and cardamom play a few notes here.
The ancient trunk is covered with oak moss, which gives the fragrance this very special and magical aura. Oak moss always breathes a subtle and unassuming magic into fragrances, thus awakening the green spirit of the forest...
Thus, the fragrance is capable of creating a cohesive olfactory panorama through individual aromas in a light-footed and elegant manner. At no point does it come across as artificial or intrusive. The longevity and sillage are appropriate; for several hours, the fragrance is a pleasant companion in almost all situations. Uncomplicated, pleasing, yet unique and special!
Shinrin-yoku stands for the Japanese "art" or therapy of "forest bathing." Staying under large old trees or spending time in forests leads, according to these considerations, to greater well-being and strengthening of the immune system!
In this respect, this would be a perfect occasion to enjoy Quercia and relax under an old oak.
Voilá - the connection between scent and tree would thus be established.
