Floral Depth Meets Molecule: "Molecule 01 Champaca" by Escentric Molecules

With "Molecule 01 + Champaca," Escentric Molecules is expanding its Molecule+ range with a floral unisex composition based on the interplay of ISO-E-Super and Champaca.

Molecule 01 + Champaca is an opulent yet weightless fragrance in which the multidimensional facets of champaca combine with the velvety lightness of Iso E Super to leave a luxuriously luminous trail that lingers with quiet elegance.

Escentric Molecules

At the heart of "Molecule 01 + Champaca" is the combination of ISO E Super and red champaca absolute. Extracted from the flowers of the champaca plant, which is native to India, champaca is one of the most precious floral raw materials used in perfumery. The absolute is said to have a complex scent in the composition, with hints of jasmine and orange blossom, accompanied by subtle tea nuances and a slight creaminess.

The fragrance starts off light and slightly citrusy-floral, then transitions into a floral-woody heart and ends with a soft, woody base, in which the transparent, woody structure of ISO E Super becomes more prominent.

"Molecule 01 + Champaca" was created by Geza Schön. The German perfumer completed his training at Haarmann & Reimer (now Symrise) in Holzminden and then worked internationally for brands such as Diesel, FCUK, Ormonde Jayne, and Boudicca. In 2006, he finally founded his own label, Escentric Molecules, in London, which he later moved to Berlin so that he could experiment independently in his famous "stink cave" and to shape niche perfumery with molecular concepts.

When I smelled Champaca Absolute with Molecule 01 for the first time, I was overwhelmed. Champaca Absolute and Iso E Super form an amazing combination because they are very contrasting (...) Iso E Super has these very woody yet transparent, very velvety, very enveloping, soft aspects, and then Champaca is added, which gives it all this complexity, all these different olfactory experiences.

The Molecule+ concept

The fragrance is part of the Molecule+ collection, which launched in 2006 with "Molecule 01"—a minimalist composition based on ISO-E-Super. In this series, the molecule is combined with selected natural raw materials, adding new facets to it.

Previous creations include "Molecule 01 + Patchouli" with earthy, woody notes, "Molecule 01 + Iris" with powdery facets, "Molecule 01 + Mandarin" with citrusy freshness, and "Molecule 01 + Guaiac Wood" with smoky, woody warmth.
