Purple Melancholia: Valentino's New Donna and Uomo Duo

Purple Melancholia: Valentino's New Donna and Uomo Duo

Valentino unveils the fragrance duo "Valentino Donna Born in Roma Purple Melancholia" and "Valentino Uomo Born in Roma Purple Melancholia", inspired by a night in a Roman palace.

Valentino Donna Born in Roma Purple Melancholia

The feminine, fruity chypre fragrance "Valentino Donna Born in Roma Purple Melancholia" opens with a dark plum note that lends the composition a fruity depth. In the heart note, osmanthus adds a soft, floral-leather facet. A warm base of bourbon vanilla rounds off the fragrance with woody and creamy notes.

Valentino Uomo Born in Roma Purple Melancholia

As a masculine interpretation, the Eau de Toilette "Valentino Uomo Born in Roma Purple Melancholia" reveals itself as an aromatic amber fragrance. Spicy cardamom characterizes the opening, before Provençal lavender creates an aromatic facet in the heart. In the base, notes of coconut and amber wood combine to create a warm, sweetish-woody finish.

New chapters in the Born in Roma line

Both fragrances are part of the Born in Roma line, which has been available since its launch in 2019 with "Valentino Donna Born in Roma" and "Valentino Uomo Born in Roma". In addition to more intense versions such as "Born in Roma Donna Intense", there are fruitier variants such as "Born in Roma Coral Fantasy" and darker interpretations such as "Born in Roma Extradose".

The new fragrances are available in 30, 50, and 100 ml bottles.

With a name like "Purple Melancholia", I was really hoping this might have violets or lilac involved. But I don't suspect I'll like this much, as osmanthus always pulls a little too leathery and animalic on my skin. It doesn't really make me think "melancholy" either, as the name implies. I haven't gotten to smell it, as it's not available where I live yet, but I have a strong feeling this will be yet another miss for me.

ugh i love how the donna born in roma sounds AMAZING especially the osmanthus even though it means i might not get any purple floral forward DBIRs for a while but the 'leather' kind of kills my hopes, i don't like leather/suede notes in my fragrances they smell too weird for me, hated peony and blush suede because of this :(
