Waiting for Summer...
...or rather for Spring first. Far from any rationality, my purchases for December and January, including an initial purchase of Allure Homme Sport and a 200ml refill of L'Eau D'Issey, are not exactly fitting for the current season.
And then I see this 1881 flanker at the drugstore for an enticing 21.99
(I just wanted to get some body wash)
I asked the lady for the tester and sprayed it on... 3...2...1...mine.
There are indeed countless light fragrances with a citrus opening, but what comes out of this bottle is, in my opinion, top-notch in this category. A wonderful top note of Yuzu...simply delightful!
It can certainly be compared to the citrus opening of L'Instant De Guerlain or Dior Homme Sport.
Not in terms of the scent character itself, which differs quite noticeably among all mentioned, but in the naturalness and radiance of the aroma.
The sole application on the skin unfortunately lets the wonderfully fresh citrus opening fade away all too quickly. If the clothing also gets a bit of it, you can enjoy it for significantly longer.
I don't find the Aqua Forte particularly "aquatic" despite the Cascalone; often this ingredient, when used, is noticeably dosed, but here it is just a light hint of synthetic sea breeze.
Mixed with a delicate fresh light wood and spice note, it creates a wonderfully fresh clean scent, which later, after the Yuzu fades, even comes off a bit softly powdery without losing its freshness.
The longevity is more akin to a Cologne than an Eau De Toilette, as mentioned.
However, it does come with a truly presentable bottle.
Thick glass, the founding year of Cerruti engraved in mirrored writing on the frosted back, you can admire the 1881 from the front through the light green filling.
The quality of workmanship, including the spray button, surpasses that of many more expensive competitors.
Conclusion: A successful summer fragrance from Cerruti with a wonderful top note, which, while not as stunning towards the end, remains pleasing and also stands out on its own.

Allrounder
This Boss creation really starts off very fresh.
Very citrusy but not with a fruity round note like, for example, Dior Homme Sport; rather, it has a somewhat bitter scent like grapefruit or, for me, even more like a very sour pomelo.
After a few minutes, it becomes quite aquatic with typical cucumber/melon aromas.
I don't really recognize the fig; perhaps it is the cause of the now rising light sweetness.
A slightly herbaceous/dry floral accord slowly emerges.
My nose convincingly tells me that this is a floral scent, but I can't identify which flowers they are.
I'll rely on the pyramid and believe that it is hyacinth and lily.
The citrus notes are now only perceptible in the background.
In many fragrances from recent years, such a citrus opening often disappears without a trace after just 5 minutes.
Not here; the citrus scent is still slightly present, and the aquatic "cucumber freshness" is still right in the mix.
Together with the floral scent and the minimal sweetness of the fig (or is it the Massoia bark responsible for that?), a lightly herbaceous, minimally sweet floral fresh scent emerges after a relatively short development, which characterizes this creation.
And so it goes on.
Sillage: rather subtle and close to the body but not entirely weak.
Longevity: quite decent for a fragrance with this profile.
The bottle is one of the most successful examples from the BOSS portfolio for me.
It comes across as stylish and definitely looks elegant.
The clear and sober/unexcited design language fits perfectly with the content.
Pure calmness, as my predecessor wrote. I agree!
No high recognizability; for that, you really have to know it well.
Not a fragrance that you get directly approached about, no "Wow, I want that" effect.
But that is exactly what I find very successful about this scent.
A universal fragrance with a very pleasant note that really stays fresh.
And at no point does it become unpleasant to my nose; quite the opposite.
I can't relate to the strongly overpowering sweetness mentioned here.
Often you hear that with such inconspicuous fragrances in this price class, you can just as well find something in the drugstore.
I don't think so; the "fresh and simple" waters of the lower price range that I have tested so far either have significantly worse longevity and are gone after a maximum of two hours, or what's left doesn't match the actual scent at all.
I'm glad to have found this Boss; there are plenty of occasions where you can do without a character fragrance.
And that's where BOSS Pure fits perfectly!

08/15...
...is certainly not this fragrance from Kenzo! It starts with the bottle, which for me is a well-rounded piece.
Grippily tapered, with a contrasting matte (etched) camouflage design... the cap adds a playful touch to the wildlife theme.
It truly makes a strong impression with absolute recognizability.
The same goes for the scent... unmistakable!
On one hand, it is animalistic and resinous sweet, and on the other hand, it is also herbaceous, heavy, and dry, like a brittle concrete slab.
At the start, this character is slightly softened by the freshness of citrus fruit.
But overall, I don’t see much of a progression; the main character is present from beginning to end. (Which I don’t see as a disadvantage)
Definitely not a bad fragrance, quite the opposite, multi-layered from front to back and exotic with interesting and, for the European nose, very unfamiliar notes.
As I said, far from 08/15. A well-thought-out product with a clear concept: the title and presentation fit perfectly with the result that comes from the spray head! ...but you have to like it.
I have tried it several times... I don’t like it, absolutely not; the sweet heaviness is too overwhelming, but especially the extremely brittle spiciness is so dry that it takes my breath away.
Since I don’t believe the purpose of the reviews here is to provide a quality assessment, which I wouldn’t be qualified to do anyway, but rather to express personal taste, I give it 20%.
If you don’t know Kenzo Jungle, give it a try! Definitely an outstanding fragrance that stands out from the crowd!
If you like it, you might even love it.
