Dark, sexy, mysterious
I’m late to the Midnight Fleur game but goodness gracious this scent is the definition of *intoxicating*. I never would have looked at the notes and then imagined it smelled this amazing. And I say that because there are some challenging notes from top to bottom.

I know the majority of people HATE patchouli, and tbh, that’s fair. It can be very pungent and dirty smelling, but it can also be fresh and give a deep balsamic sexiness to fragrances, and combined with the ambergris AND jasmine, this is über sexy. The vanilla orchid adds a gentle sweetness to the scent to sex it up even more than it already was lol (did I mention how sexy this is?) Nest did their big one with this and then discontinued it. I also just got the matching body cream and LORTTT. This one definitely draws people closer to you, men especially.

I’ve only experienced it in the cold seasons, but I think it could work for spring and summer nights when it’s a bit cooler out. I think the humidity will also help it blossom some too. Performance is excellent and layers well with fruits and vanillas. So happy I was able to snag a bottle of this underrated beauty.

Discontinued floral-gourmand gem
My one and only M. Micallef and it’s an absolute love for me. I tend to gravitate toward flormand (floral-gourmand) fragrances for their duality: they offer the beauty and grace of florals but the sweet and fun side to gourmand fragrances.

Fleur Poème is the perfect example of a flormand with tuberose and violet at its heart and surrounded by a bunch of yumminess. The scent starts off very fruity, and the addition of caramel makes the scent very sweet. As it has time to settle, the violet and tuberose (the stronger of the two florals) take center stage without any of the sweetness being lost. The overall profile is the best ‘bubblegum tuberose’ that I’ve personally come across. It’s so romantic and flirty, but still very graceful and sophisticated? I disagree with the notion that it resembles Kilian LDBS. LDBS is miles sweeter than this and the floral composition is totally different.

The performance on this is excellent, can still smell it on your clothes for days after it’s been applied and has great sillage and longevity (7+ hours). Perfect for year round wear, but just apply less in the summertime as it could be too much mixed with high heat. Sad to hear this beauty has been discontinued, but so glad to have a bottle of my own.

Not original…but damn is it beautiful!
As we’re starting to leave the cool seasons behind, I’m gravitating towards more of my florals and fresh fragrances. Naturally, I caught wind of this new one from BDK and knew I had to have it.

312 Saint-Honoré falls in line with the musky-amber-molecular skin-like fragrances that most of us are familiar with, but this one is actually more transformative than any others I’ve tried. To my nose and on my skin, it’s most comparable to Diptyque L’Eau Papier without the sesame/rice accord. It’s been compared to Glossier You, Phlur Missing Person, etc. but unlike those, I don’t go noseblind to this one and you can get away with spraying it on your clothes (the others really require skin to work imo). The opening is mostly iris + tonka + Angelica root + molecular amber. As it dries down, the orange blossom actually shines more and alongside the tonka, the scent has a gentle sweetness to it throughout its wear. It’s beautiful and gets more and more beautiful as you wear it.

It’s by no means groundbreaking or original, but it’s of BDK’s highest quality and it performs pretty well for skin scent. I got a bottle with the number ‘77’ engraved on it, and my lucky number is 7, so I’m loving the coincidental acquisition I’ve made. Excited to test it more in the spring and summer, but this is a year round scent for sure.

Edit: I wore this last week Tuesday and sprayed it all over my sweater. Yesterday, I went to put the sweat in the hamper and the fragrance still smelled this very strongly on the fabric. This is definitely one to spray on your skin and clothes!!!

Reminds me of…women’s deodorant?
I only sampled this one in passing before, but I recently got a 10 ml of this in a swap because I wanted to test it out again. When I first smelled it, I really enjoyed it but this second time around, I’m finding it to be quite… underwhelming?

Musc Pallas is true to its name: a musk bomb with an ethereal vibe. The scent itself is quite powdery and reminds me (unfortunately) of a woman’s deodorant. It’s definitely pretty, but I’m not really wowed by it. I also wish the peach note was a bit stronger, and I do feel like the composition is missing something…

Overall, I don’t know about this one. I think that if you want something soft, clean, and easy, this could work great for you. But if you’re looking for a clean scent with some ‘umph’, you won’t find it here. As expected, the sillage is very poor but the longevity is actually quite good. You could improve its projection by overspraying and spraying on clothes.

Underrated beauty from Ella K
This perfume is everything. And it’s such an underrated / under the radar scent from Ella K. Idk why more people don’t know about it, but to me, this is the most well-thought out fragrance I’ve ever come across. And the performance is stupendous, projection and longevity wise. It’ll last through a shower or just simply washing your hands. Leaves trails everywhere.

To start: the notes are a bit wrong here. It has acacia and all of these other notes, taken form Lucky Scent: Amarula liquor, papyrus, acacia flower, woolly caper, iris, tonka bean, honey, sycamore, mopane. It’s the perfect amount of sweet, floral, woody, and slightly green, and it’s just perfection. It has a very similar vibe to YSL Libre Intense, but without the lavender, substitute the white florals for a bright yellow floral with honey, and add a dash of greenery. The perfumer, Sonia Constant, created it to highlight the beauty of the Okavango Delta in Botswana, South Africa. And that to me, makes the fragrance even more amazing and well worth its $295 price tag.

So sooo happy to finally add it to my collection, and I can’t wait to see the amazing things it does in the warmer weather. Although, this beauty is perfect for anytime and anywhere.
