Underrated beauty from Ella K
This perfume is everything. And it’s such an underrated / under the radar scent from Ella K. Idk why more people don’t know about it, but to me, this is the most well-thought out fragrance I’ve ever come across. And the performance is stupendous, projection and longevity wise. It’ll last through a shower or just simply washing your hands. Leaves trails everywhere.

To start: the notes are a bit wrong here. It has acacia and all of these other notes, taken form Lucky Scent: Amarula liquor, papyrus, acacia flower, woolly caper, iris, tonka bean, honey, sycamore, mopane. It’s the perfect amount of sweet, floral, woody, and slightly green, and it’s just perfection. It has a very similar vibe to YSL Libre Intense, but without the lavender, substitute the white florals for a bright yellow floral with honey, and add a dash of greenery. The perfumer, Sonia Constant, created it to highlight the beauty of the Okavango Delta in Botswana, South Africa. And that to me, makes the fragrance even more amazing and well worth its $295 price tag.

So sooo happy to finally add it to my collection, and I can’t wait to see the amazing things it does in the warmer weather. Although, this beauty is perfect for anytime and anywhere.

Wow….
The Okavango, a river in Botswana which inspired this splendid fragrance.
Its delta is famous as the "elephant cemetery", it seems that the older specimens instinctively head towards this indefinite place, to die far from their family, their clan.
A mystical place, a meeting of death and life.
The life cycle that repeats itself.
This is a strong fragrance, which on my skin appears clean and green, slightly floral, very pleasant.
Very high class and elegant, ended up on the wish list.

Something wrong with me
I bought a bunch of sample from Ella K and I had very high expectation for most of them. Unfortunately, as much as I wanted to enjoy this olfactory journey, something about the composition didn’t agree with me. The intensity of certain notes — which I cannot pinpoint — became overwhelming and, to my surprise, made me feel physically unwell. It’s rare for a fragrance to have such a visceral effect on me, but here we are, I have to acknowledge my own limits. So yup beware if you have a sensible stomach

However I can still recognised that Reflet sur l’Okavango is undoubtedly bold and transportive. It’s a fragrance for someone who loves raw, untamed scents and doesn’t shy away from intensity.

Angel Over the Delta
Reflet Sur L'Okavango is an explosion of scent impressions.
Full-bodied sweet, creamy, warm, fruity, heavenly! BUT what does this have to do with Okavango? Good question...
Okavango... in the middle of the Kalahari Desert, this 1700 km long river flows through one of the most barren landscapes on our planet. Barren, yes, but lifeless? No. It is teeming with life. But water is scarce during the dry season in the desert.
The animals pilgrimage through the heat in search of water. Thousands of wild animals populate the seemingly endless expanses of the savannah. Shimmering air, dust-dry, hot, endless... The Okavango Delta, on the other hand, is rich in water and feels populated with the rest of Africa's animal, bird, and plant life. THIS is where the action is... um, the Big Five, which include lions, rhinos, elephants, buffalo, and leopards....
Sonia Constant surely had a thought in mind when she named the fragrance after the life-giving river. However, I think she had the Okavango Delta with its lush green flora in mind.
A water landscape with papyrus and reed swamps, floating islands of reed grass, lagoons, palm islands, trees, water figs, acacias, ripe fruits, flowering trees, and caper bushes, blossoms as far as the eye can see, everywhere it teems and buzzes.

Reflet Sur L'Okavango contains, according to the pyramid, only acacia, caper, tonka bean, and dried herbs. However, my nose detects so much more.
Definitely ylang-ylang, mandarin, vanilla, and musk. It radiates with sweet exotic fruitiness. Yet it is never annoying or too sweet. The herbs and capers temper the sweetness and give the whole thing a wonderful depth. I can't smell anything of the river itself in this fragrance. It is not aquatic at all. The tonka bean and vanilla give it an incredibly creamy soft texture. It awakens a very strong longing for vacation in me.
When I wore it, compliments were pouring in.... my 9-year-old daughter said... "this is how angels must smell." She's right!!!!
The scent does something to me, and that is bad.... because it is very expensive!! But you get a lot for it, H+S is top-notch.

It’s been years since I had it, but this super reminds me of Elie Saab Le Parfum Eau de Parfum Intense. It’s got that MFK hairspray vibe

The very definition of Acacia: a walk through Acacia woods in spring, when all the flowers are in bloom.

Mildly sweet, a bit powdery, has that plush “texture” that makes me think of makeup. Great fragrance.

There was this sweet fruit on your lips
The white flowers in your hair
A glass of champagne
And too much tonka

I primarily perceive exotic flowers (Ylang?) and tropical (not listed) fruits. Alongside, there's plenty of vanilla-musk and tonka. +

A very interesting scent. Very powdery and dry, yet also sweet and marine without being aquatic. Well done.

I expected more from the brand and ingredients: a sweet, powdery, somewhat undefined floral scent on a warm, creamy base.

I'm thrilled. I find this scent warm, soft, exotic, and unique. Honey, vanilla, herbal broth, and enchanting, creamy ylang-ylang.

You vanilla tonka bean
you feast on flowers
A hint of herbs in the wind
from the distant lake
Where at the forest's edge
the moss shines
