Love at second sniff
I got to know some Georges Rech fragrances here 7 years ago. Muse Poudrée, for example, enchanted me, even though it didn't match my preferences, but I found some others quite successful. I liked Alexandrie mon Amour, Mr. Pluto thought it was great, but I had expected more coffee and the sample moved on. Now, years later, I received another bottling and actually wanted to send it on straight away, as I know the fragrance. But I took a nose at the cap and lo and behold, I was fascinated. So I put it on and went to the office. My colleague is used to a lot of fragrances from me, I'm sure she doesn't like everything - she never complains, thank you for that - but here she opened her eyes, sniffed my wrist and enthusiastically murmured "great".

Does it smell different today? No, I don't think so. My statement from back then: "Pleasant, fruity-sweet lavender patch scent. Lulling with a small gourmand note. Unfortunately no coffee. Mr. Pluto was enraptured..." remains largely the same. Today I perceive the fragrance as follows: At the beginning there is a small fruity note, more towards citrus than "red fruits". The lavender has a warm, herbaceous aura and can be detected throughout the fragrance. After a while, heliotrope joins in, slightly powdery and today I also smell coffee, but only delicately in the background as a sweetened cappuccino. The whole thing is supported by patchouli, vanilla and a fine resinousness from the amber. And now I'm raising it to 8.5.

Alexandrie mon Amour has a remarkable sillage and longevity, be careful with the dosage, less is more. For me, the fragrance is a floral tale with a little gourmand touch and clearly a fall and winter companion that needs cool temperatures.

And of course, one bottle moved in yesterday after two others had to go, I want to get to under 50. Many thanks to Minigolf for the successful swap.

A cool green gem
Miss Dior Esprit de Original has enriched my collection for a few months now. It is a chypre gem that has class. It opens with galbanum, a hint of sage and bergamot, the heart blossoms with a spicy, soapy floral potpourri, garden carnation and rose are clearly perceptible. Oakmoss - as befits a good chypre - and resinous labdanum, which is a little sweet, complete the base. It has good staying power and the sillage is perceptible in the surrounding area, but not overpowering. Of course, the miss also goes on the mister and the lady can be worn all year round, but is best in spring.

Compared to the EDT, which has been in my collection for a long time, the Esprit version is a little deeper, a little richer. I loved the EDT version even as a teenager, which disproves the theory that only "old and withered" people smell like this... Unfortunately, I didn't have the money to buy this fragrance back then. Incidentally, my young colleague gasps when I wear it. Not with horror, but with enthusiasm. She wanted to buy it recently, but the sales clerk sprayed her with one of the various Miss Dior flankers and she was very disappointed with the "contemporary" version. No worries, she now knows which one is right and where to get it.

Maybe we'll get somewhere...
Years ago, I had Blazer under my nose and didn't really warm to the scent. Somehow I couldn't get over it, as it contains almost everything I like. Ergo was kind enough to send me another sample, thank you dear.

But even years later, I still find Blazer a little difficult. The beginning is spicy, slightly citrusy and quickly turns into a green-herbaceous heart note, mint is predominant here, juniper gives a tart, fresh note. Clove simmers in the distance. This could be perfect if I didn't have a humanizing note - a note of sweat - in my nose, which makes the fragrance warmer but also slightly musty. My guess is cardamom, which is not in it according to the description. This note fades towards the base, ambergris gives a resinous warmth and the fragrance has a woody finish. In my opinion, Blazer is not very floral, more of a green-spicy chypre. I actually like the fragrance better on the second and third test, maybe I'll be in love by the fourth test, who knows..

The longevity is remarkable for a concentrated cologne, some EDPs could take a leaf out of their book, the sillage is well perceptible, but not room-filling. I can well imagine Blazer on an English country lady, tweed jacket with arm patches and peaty rubber boots, a basket of home-cut Gloria Dei and herbs from the vegetable garden in one hand, a riding crop in the other. And of course the landlord too, but sitting in front of the fireplace with Arco the German Wirehair and an old Scotch. I like the latter idea better ...

Performance of a diva
Drum roll, the diva arrives. She stands glistening brightly in the spotlight on the stairs, aldehydes escort her to the stage. The tuberose ensnares her on the way, the garden carnation vies for attention, the rose and jasmine extras applaud. Fine spicy soap peeps around the corner, drowned out by patchouli and oakmoss. The curtain falls, the stage is in darkness. White Diamonds whispers in the theater aisles for days, even without the diva.

Now it's a short comment instead of a statement. I must love White Diamonds, lots in it that I like. I've tried it several times with a sniff, to no avail, it never became love, but no hate either, I call it respect.

A fragrance that should be well dosed, wearable for seasoned women, I rather exclude guys here, but if you want, try it... By the way, the bottle is high-quality and tasteful, worthy of a diva. I prefer Passion, the purple bottle also went much better with Liz's violet-colored eyes.

Washed.. Arabica. Blend. Roasted. Undermatures... drum roast... huh?
Recently we got a new fully automatic coffee machine for the social room. After 80,000 cups and a few years, the old machine had finally given up the spirit - not least thanks to a lack of care, everyone wants to drink, but wants to clean, care, pah, not with us, "always with me the water is all", "always with me the care wants", everyone knows, right? The smart salesman gave a short briefing and then let us take turns sniffing coffee beans in a free bag - all of them fell for Ohs and Ahs with enthusiastic "delicious, aromatic, great" shouts. I've always found that coffee smells better than it tastes. And while the salesman was talking shop with enthusiasm about acidity, strength, roasting, Libera, and see headline (yawn...I'm no Barrista after all), I digressed in thoughts to perfumes with coffee scent. Because I would like to have a coffee scent in my collection, but so far everybody was too sweet, too muckefuckig, too many flowers, but stop! …. Café Tonka, I've had a bottle for a long time, it was quite good, or not?

At home I searched in the vegetable compartment of the fridge for my bottling, I had almost forgotten the scent. And with 6 degrees in the morning a warm coffee smell comes just in time. So they'll hang up the next morning.

Café Tonka starts with finest coffee, aromatic and strong, pepper brizzelt a little in the nose. Nothing blooms here, only the finest mocha clouds surround me. After a short while, I am sweetened with tonka bean, stronger and with more sweetness than I remembered and loved. A shot of creamy cream in it would have pleased me better. But thanks to Parfumo I get along better with sweetness in fragrances and I find that this smell smells at least like coffee, of some coffee fragrances I could not say that. Sillage and shelf life are in the middle range, due to the sweetness I would recommend the cool autumn times to wear.

Mr. Pluto comes out of the bathroom drunk asleep, "it already smells of coffee in the hallway, has the machine overflowed? Well, the scent seems authentic. But I keep looking, there must be something like a cafe crema - unsweetened and perhaps with a dash of cognac or rum? Does anyone have any tips?
