Chypre Shoe Polish with Swiss Herbs
It's always interesting how different perceptions can be. I was very much looking forward to this Lalique and was surprised during the testing of the sample that it developed quite differently than expected. During the first test, it somehow got lost on my arm. I guess we tested too many fragrances at once...
So today, a bold and not timid spray for the next test:
The top note starts off engagingly green and woody, completely without citrus, and suggests a few aldehydes instead. Then it smells like shoe polish, the old kind with beeswax, which gives a real shine when polished. This is also the case with this fragrance. Suddenly, I find myself sitting in an old trunk, where rubber tires and a jar of honey are also stored, and I look out in surprise. Not a bad perspective, but where is the chypre? An hour later, when Mediterranean herbs waft into my nose, it could point in the right direction, but it gets a bit stuffy in the trunk. Maybe it's just too warm outside. I find a pack of Swiss herbal sugar and suck on one for refreshment. They taste a bit powdery. Perhaps I'll try it again in winter.
