Difficult entrance - long beautiful centre - intoxicating reverberation
Around Christmas 2017 I had met him. The Britannia Club. It's more of a coincidence. The otherwise untidy and chaotic men's fragrance shelf at DM suddenly had a pretty little wooden shelf with three men's fragrances "Highlands", "Soho Lounge" and "Britannia Club". From Jean & Len. Neither the manufacturer nor the fragrances I had seen anywhere before. Since then I carry the small bottle of the Britannia Club quite often with me. Initially, this was partly due to the robustness and easy transportability of the vial. The little lid fits snugly and does not get lost in the briefcase. That's how I learned to love him. The fragrance has a clear three-part division. In the beginning, a bouquet - too citric, too many small nuances that tend to exclude each other - not so great. I would say - you have to go through that to discover the Britannia Club at all. After 30 minutes it's over. And now comes the long main phase. Well recognizable bergamot, pepper, something resinous. And already the incense, still overlaid by the other nuances but audible. Wonderful for me. And long lasting. I really like to smell myself in him and notice how my environment sniffs. 7, 8, 9 hours it goes like this, it ebbs, but remains well recognizable. After a long working day, you still know what you've put on in the morning. The third phase begins with "going to bed" and unfolds all your strength again during the morning shower. There is now almost only the myrrh - still some pepper - which crawls gently and heavily up the nose and always triggers beautiful memories. Church, old, venerable - sunrays in dusty clerical air, remains of incense still rising from the rows of benches and altars. Peace. And whether this wonderful morning "nose seduction" is the subsequent grasp to the amazingly productive 50 ml bottle quite obvious. And the cycle begins anew. But beware - last week I learned that the Jean & Len fragrances are thrown out of DM stores. So if you still want to try, you should be quick. I've built up a small stock of the dearly beloved friend.
