Finally Matcha
I am a big Matcha fan.
I love Matcha as a flavor in pretty much everything where you have the option to choose a Matcha flavor. So why not also smell like Matcha, I thought?

So off went the journey.

Blue Matcha by Montale? Somehow not really as matcha-like as I had hoped. Too bad.
Le Matcha by LeLabo? Somehow not really as matcha-like as I had hoped. Too bad.
Matcha & Fragipani by 4711? Somehow not really as matcha-like as I had hoped. WHAT A SHAME.

Alright, on to the next scent, Matcha Meditation by Maison Margela with a solid 6.6 rating on Parfumo, great. Somehow not really - HOLD ON. It smells exactly as matcha-like as I had hoped - YAY!!!

I don't quite understand why the reviews for this scent are so bad. Yes, it is quite sweet, but I always pour tablespoons of sugar into my Matcha as well. Maison Margela has applied this unhealthy but delicious little secret here too. To me, this really just smells like a sweet Matcha latte.

Perhaps the rating can be explained by the fact that the scent itself may not be as high-quality and well-balanced as the LeLabo interpretation, but it is exactly what I was looking for.

A sweet Matcha scent - Yay!

The Mouse Trap
First of all: I find Jo Malone fragrances generally smell pleasant and good. What’s on the label is delivered in good to very good quality, and I actually think the bottles are quite stylish.

Personally, however, I have experienced that you can more or less forget about the beautiful scents, because almost all Jo Malone fragrances have the absolutely worst longevity that money can buy.

I see people getting upset about the longevity of Tom Ford summer fragrances, which (admittedly for ridiculous prices) last only a few hours.

Jo Malone and this fragrance take it to a new level. The longevity is (at least for me) no joke, barely an hour. I have a perfume that costs over 100 euros and lasts not even an hour. Well, Hallelujah.

Does Wood Sage & Sea Salt smell good? Absolutely. It is one of the best summer scents I know. Unfortunately, no one seems to really notice that except for me, because it (I must repeat myself) DISAPPEARS AFTER NOT EVEN AN HOUR.

Like a mouse trap, the fragrance is set up in Douglas stores.
Uninformed customers read the name and are intrigued. WOW, a dreamy, soft, and unique aquatic. You can’t go wrong with that!

The bait snaps shut.

The longevity barely lasted long enough to reach the checkout. Once home, you gradually realize why none of my friends have bought this fragrance.

Well, would you look at that, I can’t smell anything anymore. Maybe my nose is blocked. Maybe I just need to spray more. Maybe it’s just me who can’t perceive it anymore. Maybe I need to try it in warm weather.
Maybe Douglas could have included a consumer warning. Maybe I should have informed myself online. Maybe I’m just being too harsh. Maybe I’m just mourning my 140 euros. Maybe many people don’t care and buy it anyway. Who knows.

In short: Great scent, but such a POOR performance I personally cannot justify beyond 100 euros.

Is it worth it?
A fresh scent for over 200 euros? Is it worth it?

The answer to this question is usually: No. Most fresh niche fragrances I know are ultimately nice designer scents in a Louis Vuitton/Tom Ford package with the corresponding price tag. Maybe I'm just not an expert, but to me, most fresh scents smell nice and pleasant, and I don't notice any significant qualitative differences.

Afternoon Swim is the first expensive freshie where my reaction after smelling it was not: "nice and pleasant," but rather "oh, please Mr. Vuitton, take all my money."

To me, this smells so incredibly high-quality that I could hardly believe it the first time. Nothing stands out. The individual citrus notes blend into an incredibly soft overall impression. I can't pick out a single note; I can only marvel at how everything synergizes into what will likely be the most expensive freshie I ever buy. Cooling, soft citrus at the highest level. Nothing new, but familiar in a quality that, in my opinion, truly justifies the price.

In the end, everyone has to decide for themselves whether a 40 euro freshie, which will serve roughly the same purpose, is not the financially smarter solution. However, I urge everyone to at least try the scent once to see what is qualitatively possible.

An Expensive Treat
Is this spicy fresh scent somehow pleasant? Yes
Is this spicy fresh scent anything groundbreaking? No
Does this spicy fresh scent last quite short? Yes
Is this spicy fresh scent worth the price that Creed is asking? Probably not

If this scent were released by one of the numerous designer brands as the 10th flanker to some spicy summer fragrance, it would probably not cause much of a stir and would quickly be "discontinued." I really don't understand why one should spend well over 100 euros just because it comes in a Creed package.
