Don’t be shy, apply!
This is a salient point in case of how it’s better to apply fragrance to get a rounded experience of it. From the atomizer is good, from a blotter’s good, but those aspects only allow you to experience a facet of a fragrance.

So, i say that to say: when i first purchased this (2018) i did so only after having worn it via a sample from Diptyque. I couldn’t get enough of the stuff. However, after having purchased it, i seldomly reached for it. Big reason being: i decide my sotd by sniffing the atomizer. Hence, my point.

Whenever i do wear this, i almost always kick myself for not using it more because it SMELLS SO GOOD on skin. Via atomizer it smells slightly dirty and kinda weird.

This is indeed unique. Done in a way only Diptyque can construct. The smell like section, in typical fashion—at least of the ones I’ve smelled—is straight cap. The only tie between them being a prominent vetiver note.

Anyways: unisex-male, any age above 20, casual, daytime, transitional weather and office appropriate… Good stuff.

NOTE: I’m going to stand on there being iris in this. Most notably in the drydown. Does anyone else get that??

Period.
When i wear this it makes me see how senseless my fragrance purchasing habit is. Like, this is it already. I have it. I mean, this is FEE-nominal (phenomenal)!

Like, in regards to having to pick one summer frag to rule them all… at least, in terms of a summer signature… it’s between this and Virgin Mint by Carolina Herrera. There are a lot more i REALLY like, but these two are my ultimates.

Manly, elegant, qualitative… 10/10

Really??
First impressions: Tyrannosaurus Rex with some oud and castoreum.

Note: Saks was out of sample vials and gave me a spritzed card in plastic, to take home. What i smelled was incense-y and pissy, with some oud.

I’ll probably go back in the fall to either get a proper decant or just spritz it on.

Glad i didn’t blind buy this as i already have T.Rex. Personally, i think that formula is better constructed, with better material used.

To be continued…

Who else???
Wow, this is good. Of the three recent Amouages i smelled (Silver Oud, Reflection 45 and this) this proved to be the one that got me.

However, this is also the only one i was able to get a nice sized decant of and properly apply it on skin.

For those who say it doesn’t remind them of an Amouage creation, i say: smell the layers and smell that unmistakable omani incense.

I read a few reviews calling this designer-ish. Now, come on. Who? Chanel? Celine?? The depth of this alone goes beyond their respective budgets. Unless perhaps they offered some extrait/pure perfume release. But even then, that omani incense offers something that only omani incense can bring to the table, with its 3D scent profile.

Yeah, this is good.

Full bottle on the way.

Bravo Amouage! Bravo!

Not as royal and no oud but, an awesome scent.
First impression: A niche Royal Oud (I consider Creed luxury vs niche). Mainly due to the strong cedar, incense and clove; albeit this has nutmeg.

Definitely no oud in this. In fact, you can appreciate the oud in Royal Oud better after comparing them side by side.

It’s not a 1:1, but unless you’re into this scent profile i would compare and get one or the other. The Creed is more posh vs Poivre Noir’s outgoingness.

I find that after you own a good lot of really good, well established, scent profiles, anything thereafter is just going to be a variation.

Bottom line: awesome scent.
