Meander Amouage 2020

Picture this: there is a small, cozy cottage in the middle of the forest. Carrots are being boiled and mashed potatoes are being prepared, while someone is cleaning the house and burning a bit of incense in the background. That’s what it feels like to stick your nose right into Amouage’s Meander.

The peppers are not very apparent, but there’s still a bit of spice detectable. I’d say this perfume lasts just fine and projects a fair amount as well. I find it pretty underappreciated, as it’s rarely mentioned on this site. Very cozy scent, I like it!

Long time i was searching something interesting for casual and daily wearing in the warmer weather from the niche. I am happy that i found this. For me Meander is a little bit more special and unique than designers releases. Green, creamy, pleasant, refreshing. Very good performance. Of course it's expensive, but i think it's worth to get if you would like to stand out a bit without heavy notes.

Meander was a surprise for me. From few other Amounage fragrances that I sampled and own. This is a beautiful green and a bit creamy note in my experience. Give me the imagination of Zelda, the video game, Link is the perfect meander himself :-) Brings the memories of the outdoorsy adventures. Yet it’s also elegant and complex in its own way. I would say it’s unisex for everyone who is into mild green and creamy notes. Good for almost all seasons I would say.

This is rather sweet but male-leaning unisex in the opening spray where the cypriol oil comes off minty and strong. The same peanutty vetiver note from Haitian vetiver that can be found in Diptyque's Vetyverio is here in the base. I don't pick up on the orris by itself because it is masterfully blended. Nice creamy sandalwood blend. On the drydown it smells like Goldfield and Banks's Silky Woods without the seedy ashy cigarette smell.

Well, the time came for me to order a full bottle for myself. Copped a full bottle for 1/3 price on Allbeauty. For reference, I'm a cis-gendered female but I find this perfectly unisex. Doesn't seem fitting how it's marketed towards men only! There's always a place in my collection for a creamy sandalwood. This reminds me of Gris Charnel and Parisian Musc/Santal Austral, and is also similar to Memo Paris Inverness.

Edit: Several months later, I tried Tam Dao EDP by Diptyque and it's almost a dead ringer for this at a similar price point if you get this from the discounter's.

I was recommended this during a search for a sandalwood fragrance- Santal 33 and Bois du Balincourt were both pickle juice, Tam Dao was close but was lacking a certain oomph, and Sacred Wood was more like wood chippings for me- and while I knew Amouage was well-known for heavy-handed fragrance, I had a feeling I might still like this from the note list. Meander caught me off guard a little with how sweet the initial spray was- almost like nutty condensed milk but still within acceptable range, but the sweetness soon recedes and it develops into a hazy, creamy yet light, elegant sandalwood scent that stays for 6+ hours. Not your usual Amouage, signature worthy in my opinion. It might sound similar to Guidance, which is a later release by Amouage, but this is much less sweet in my opinion.
