The Khareef

The Khareef is an Arabic term for a weather phenomenon in Oman that is unique in the Middle East. This monsoon rain is caused by surface winds. These lead - thanks to humid air and rainwater - to a considerable cooling and are responsible for the special weather situation in the coastal province of Dhofar.
The moisture that accumulates in the middle of the Dhofar landscape rises and condenses on the slopes of the Qara Mountains. During this time the mountains are covered in thick fog and the khareef falls mostly as a steady and fine drizzle. This weather phenomenon is also responsible for the much more moderate temperatures around the paradise for nature and animals. The temperatures stay between 20 and 25 degrees. The nature-breathing landscape is covered by fog and rain in a cool white veil of mist, which makes everything green and blooming.

With "Meander", Mackenzie Reilly created an authentic image of this phenomenon. The fragrance starts on my skin with very delicate incense. Iris and narcissus quickly join in, reigning over my head and heart and withstanding the base. I love the daffodil idea, it reflects the fine softness, the minimal sweetness of drizzle and supports the wet and humid green of lush, breathing nature.
In general, "Meander" is more the morning fog than the oriental, Amouage-typical buzz. The fragrance doesn't think much of projecting the whole day and meanders rather subtly in a silvery way. I also find little smokiness in the base, no resins, a misty green iris remains the main protagonist.
It is only very spicy if you press your nose on the back of your hand. From a distance it radiates a spiritual, inner peace, which I like very much. I can't analyse anything other than iris and narcissus out of the total work of art, if I didn't know about its other ingredients.

"Meander" is inhabited by a green iris spirit of the unfathomable, which I have fallen for ad hoc. The composition is so harmonious that I actually like to follow the marketing images of Amouage and just fly away. Uplifted by the Khareef, far above the province of Dhofar in Oman - as far as the spirit carries me!

Meandertaler
Meander from the controversial Renaissance collection does not necessarily make it easy. Nevertheless, I want to make it relatively short here, because really much can not be written about it.

This is partly because it seems a little too simple to me, without being simple. What he is definitely: creamy and with a similar Behäbigkeit, as it has already met me with Pasha de Cartier perfume. That one, however, is even more simplistic, but seems more refined in its own way. With Meander it is actually different, so a little more complex, but rather dröge - or perhaps too intensely soothing.

To paraphrase: Meander beckons with a more complex structure, the result is relatively monotonous for it over time. Above all, I sniff a lot of sandalwood, but this penetrating creaminess lulls one without actually being able to perceive the other ingredients. Possibly here a little powdery iris root and there a touch of the sweetish carrot.

Nice ... and at the same time kind of well-behaved and completely unexciting. At the same time, I wondered whether I can olfactorily locate anything in this direction due to the pistachio green bottle, but except for the slightly oriental-woody-herbaceous Cypriol, I am quite disoriented.

In short: Meander meanders between soothing and snore, it's not really bad, but also not a fragrance that would trigger a wow effect. To want to have the, you must already be excessive Amouage fan or wear a super-thick cuddly fur.

Strolling drudgery
"Meander" by Amouage is a mildly oriental peppery dream that is probably the closest thing to an everyday Amouage fragrance yet.

"Meander" lives up to its name and is without question a cozy comrade. Not to say slow, sluggish and ponderous. You have to get that right with a pepper-heavy mix. But fire in the butt this one has as much as an emperor penguin. Slightly dusty, library, powdery. The iris isn't exactly the most active flower now either. But my favorite, still. Dry desert aroma. Oman meets grandma. High-end and luxurious, but that doesn't stop it from being wearable. Great scent. If you can get your slightly asleep feet off and have patience.

Flacon: color fits, shape and heaviness as always plump
Sillage: close to the carrier. Since but then clearly.
Durability: 8 hours slurps's his rounds

Conclusion: (because of the perfectly fitting pyramid) failed to my personal expectations. But otherwise a (too?) relaxed iris-pepper mix that lulls you creamy. Signature-worthy, yes. But then a bit boring.

Nice daily niche
Long time i was searching something interesting for casual and daily wearing in the warmer weather from the niche. I am happy that i found this. For me Meander is a little bit more special and unique than designers releases. Green, creamy, pleasant, refreshing. Very good performance. Of course it's expensive, but i think it's worth to get if you would like to stand out a bit without heavy notes.

Meandering Iris
I’ll start off by saying that Iris feels like one of the most prominent aspects of this fragrance, which carries through to the end. I would say the top 3 accords would be more like powdery iris woods, and by woods I specifically mean just sandalwood, especially its creamy facets. The other notes are present only partially and in supporting angles, such as the back of the nose brightness that I feel is present from the frankincense, but not the lemony front side that is usually involved.

There is a bit of depth to the creamy, but light iris feel from everything else involved, but it’s fairly linear and not as usual of a heavy hitter performance wise that Amouage is typically known for. Definitely a pleasant and inoffensive scent, though not a screamer. I very much enjoy the serenity of the creamy iris, and the well blended supporting notes, but it seems to me to suddenly drop off and cease to exist, as if there are no basenotes when everything else fades away. I suppose I could be anosmic to whatever notes are at the end, but seems curious to me. It is the winter where I am testing and it makes me curious if this is more designed for hot, dry climates to really experience it as it should be.

The bottle and box are gorgeous, by the way, but I’m not sure it is as green feeling as the bottle portrays. As unisex as it gets.

Has the vibe of Byredo's Bal d'Afrique and Mojave Ghost mixed together, toned down the fruity and floral accords and added some smoke.

Evolving, opens sweet & aromatic with a nutty-smelling base, has some of Amouage's smoky DNA. Did not last long, masculine, maybe all-year.

Sweet creamy appearance, iris more in the background. Comes across as very "perfumy". Slight parallels to Gris Charnel. Rather average

The same synthetic musk that can be found in Enclave is present here in ample amount; This time it's complimented by woody spices.
