Sometimes you have to give fragrances time..
After work on a late summer day, I visited a small, nice niche perfumery nearby. I was diligently assisted by an older lady, as I wanted to purchase my first PDM.
I tested diligently. In the past, I had already thoroughly tested several fragrances from the house. I had already tried
Haltane at its release in a perfumery while on vacation, and I was also familiar with the other usual suspects. The
Layton Exclusif had always appealed to me the most. However, I was indecisive, as no one could really convince me 100% to make a purchase.
The nice lady recommended
Oajan .. "Your son (whom I apparently reminded her of) would have chosen this one. It suits you perfectly!".
After spraying it on my skin, I was immediately shocked by the spiciness of the dominant cinnamon note and wiped it off right away. "Not for me, this heavy cinnamon!" I said and left the store after trying a few more (out of politeness). This experience would probably shape my aversion to the cinnamon note in the long term..
At least, that’s what I thought. A few weeks passed, and the days grew cooler. I dared to give it another try, as boredom and cold drove me into Breuninger. Sprayed on my arm and wow! What a wonderful fragrance that evoked a very cozy feeling in me. The scent really suits me perfectly, and I thought of the words of the fragrance consultant in the end. A quick look at Parfumo and the reviews seemed to be overwhelmingly positive. I almost let an absolute banger slip through my fingers..
One thing this experience taught me: I will never test fragrances out of sync with the season again. Otherwise, I miss out on such experiences. :)
