an interesting discontinued fragrance
i managed to get (nearly) a full bottle of this perfume the other day. immediately upon spraying, it smelled just like lipstick. it's very powdery, though not in the same way my beloved orphéon is. it's closer to pas de chat by odette parfum co., though not as baby powdery (thank god).
it is certainly an interesting perfume that evokes a very specific image. because of that, i do wish there were some more elements to it rather than just that lipstick scent. i would love something woody, to indicate the lipstick was displayed on a beautiful vanity or something like that. i also wish i got more of the vanilla, but perhaps that is meant to be a background element blending everything together.
that being said, i do like it. definitely not something for everyday wear, but it's a nice perfume to have in the collection as a lesbian old hollywood fan. yes, i feel there is something very inherently lesbian about this.
if i can find something to layer it with, i would definitely wear it more often!
intriguing and strangely beautiful
trying this for the first time today. i've had a little decant for months but felt too intimidated to try it for the longest time. however, i like it much more than i thought i would. it's certainly interesting, very patchouli-heavy. it's resinous and a bit medicinal, but there is a certain coldness about it as well. i imagine this would be lovely to wear in december. there is a certain melancholy about it. i can imagine a very strong-willed woman wearing this.
how i adore you, milk orchid.
i've seen so much negative talk about this perfume. i know fragrance is subjective but i truly don't understand why. it's soft, creamy, subtly sweet and a little woody.
i'm not a fan of coconut on me, so i was a bit nervous about the coconut cream, but it blends so smoothly with the rest of the notes. i saw someone say it reminds them a bit of hair conditioner, and i definitely see that! it's not soapy though.
i don't get much of the floral, and the sillage is not great, but i don't mind because it does last a long time on me. it just sits close to the skin and feels like a warm, comforting hug. i adore this fragrance. i wear it to bed sometimes too.
a little nostalgic, mostly mediocre
i was excited to try this as i've seen many people describe it as an offensive "old lady perfume" personally, i don't get that vibe. the sweetness of strawberry is a bit nostalgic, reminds me of shampoo i'd use as a kid. but other than that it, none of the other notes stand out. it just smells like a pretty generic department store perfume for me! :/ it's not an offensive smell, but it's not particularly interesting. if i can't trade it with someone, i will finish my travel size but i def would not purchase the full bottle.
just stunning
i don't know how else i can describe it other than that it smells like two lovers wearing bathrobes, drinking champagne in a luxurious hotel. they just got out of the shower and their skin is still warm, hair still damp. it's sexy, soft, lethargic, warm. feels intimate and complex, but very wearable. the chardonnay note glimmers nicely above the depth from the cedarwood. i'm obsessed.
