The most versatile gourmand

This was my first ever blind-buy and it also happens to be my most successful. The notes of this fragrance are something I previously would’ve only thought up in dreams and I am extremely happy to report that this really is just as good as it sounds. This scent is sweet and creamy without being cloying and the base notes help keep it grounded and give it that you’re skin but better affect. It’s wearable, which might be shocking considering it’s fashioned after literal mochi, and I love that you can play this up or down depending on whatever vibe you’re going for. A definite fav!

A Beautifully Restrained Gourmand

Unlike Dedcool's Milk and Xtra Milk, I can actually smell Mochi Milk, and oh is it a pretty one! Peach is listed as a note, but to me, Mochi Milk smells like the cream on a Strawberry Pocky. It is airy, lactonic, slightly starchy, and surprisingly fresh. It doesn't last too long so I prefer to spray this one heavily. Despite the brief longetivity, Mochi Milk is definitely a winner in Dedcool's lineup.

The Perfect Spring Gourmand

For me, the magic of mochi milk is in the drydown, about 10-20 minutes after initial application. That is when the warm, ambery skin scent Dedcool is known for really starts to come through and is enhanced by the sweet notes. Though sweet, this smells like a very clean musk to me and is a perfect gourmand for transitioning into warmer days. The opening is not as candy sweet as a typical celeb fragrance for example, but it is the sweetest part and smooths out within 5 minutes.

The bottle is minimalistic but rather boring in my opinion - I wish Dedcool would have done light pink lettering instead of black to make it stand out and align with the imagery they created for marketing.

not like its name… or the reviews

i blind bought this fragrance because of all the reviews i’ve seen on the internet. people have been praising it for having such a sweet, delicious, marshmallowy scent. now, this has been stated lots of time before, this does not really smell like mochi. the rice note in this isn’t really strong nor obvious. however, is it really just a marshmallow scent?

i was expecting marshmallow when i bought this, but from my experience, the peach smell dominates the first minutes, or even the first hour of fragrance wear. i do get the marshmallow, but the peach and, to my surprise, the jasmine, are the notes i smell the most when it opens. from the first hour of wear and onwards, the musk and the marshmallow come through much more. am i disappointed? not at all. i’m planning on purchasing a full sized bottle for the spring and summer, because the fruity note isn't overwhelming during that season. i’m also pleased, because this is one of the few perfume i’ve tried that don’t open with a strong alcohol smell during the first minutes. it’s very subtle, great for college. but it’s definitely not what i’ve expected from all the reviews i’ve seen. which is why, again, it’s so important to try it on your skin.

A sweet, powdery scent that sits close to the skin, easy to wear all year.

Mochi Milk is such a strange combination of scent types that somehow work really well together. I've had my travel spray for about a year now, and it's a bit sweeter now than it was when I bought it. It opens with a bright punch of peach, and I love a fruity gourmand so that works for me. I guess it's the incense in the top notes that gives it a slightly strange but enjoyably unique opening. The starchiness of the rice milk comes through pretty quickly and gives it a cozy feel (I do love a rice scent). The peach persists for a while but I do get a really lovely, sweet, marshmallow dry down. Because it sits close to your skin, it wears well in the summer heat, is cozy for the winter months, and is definitely office appropriate.

I just received a sample of Narcotica's Happy Dust, and immediately thought it smells similar to something else I own... and a review I read made me realize it's Mochi Milk! They are both sweet/powdery/vanilla scents with an amber/sandalwood/musk base. I would say maybe 80% similar to each other, but Happy Dust has a literal dusty quality for the first hour that isn't pleasing to me. Happy Dust also lasts a laughable amount of time on skin or clothes, so I'd suggest Mochi Milk if you're into that scent profile and don't mind the peach-centric opening. Mochi Milk lasts a few hours on my skin, maybe 6 or so hours on my clothes. It's a reasonable price for the travel spray (~$30 for 15ml, vs the usual 10ml travel sizes) so I don't mind reapplying midday.

Not getting the YBM comparisons at all, they're very different scents to my nose. YBM (and numerous dupes) is one of my GOATs, and I'd say MM is like a second cousin in terms of similarity. Related in that they're both sweet scents. This does smell almost identical to EB's Marshmallows, FWIW. If you love this scent, that body mist may be a worthwhile purchase for the price to volume ratio.
