Having tried this after the Extrait, I can safely say this original is many times better. The Extrait, to me, is just way too astringent in the dry down, almost like pungent leather, which, if you're into that sort of thing, might be a total plus for you! I, however, enjoy this for its lighter approach while still keeping an air of deep elegance and class. Beautiful fig, cardamom spicyness, sandalwood and black tea all come together here in the perfect quantities smelling grown-up and professional while standing out from others.

For the price you're typically paying with Ex Nihilo, I don't think this is really worth it. I've tried it on the skin about three times now and I can appreciate it for its longetivity, but the scent is nothing special for me. Pear on the top with the tiniest bit of citrus, develops a vague sweetness, which dries down into synthetic fresh laundry, essentially. *Kind of* original?

This is probably my favorite ginger scent as it stands, though I've yet to try others like Vibrato, Floraiku's and Widian's Ginger. Zingy, fizzy and fresh ginger + orange with a lovely cozy bed of powdery vanilla and some woodiness... Even though this is concentrated around being a scent for the warmer weather, I would be wearing this year-round just out of my love for this ginger-vanilla combo.

Okay, spraying it on for a third time after having had the sample for about a month now, I no longer get as much of an egg smell as I did the first two times, so at least now I can start to appreciate it more. That being said, it doesn't really do much for me... it's just a decent aquatic ginger-grapefruit ambrox fragrance that does harken back to the smells of 90s men's perfumes. Maybe as I wear it more I'll come around to liking it, as I did with Meteore, but I'm not sure. As it stands, there are better ginger-and/or-grapefruit-centric scents in my opinion: Ingenious Ginger, Tygar, Molecule 01+Ginger, Empyr, to name a few.
