almost there, but missing something
i purchased this after reading some people say pinnace oryn was a photorealistic orange scent (big fan of that) but am left wanting more with this fragrance.
must say that this is an incredibly weak formula, i’ve never experienced a scent lasting under 2 hours on my skin.
i am an arancia di capri ADP diehard, and i will say that despite my criticisms of this so far it is a bit similar. they have a similar profile of an orange rind and pith, but pinnace oryn has no juice. not a drop or juicy ripeness, instead oryn moves far more floral than others. i’ve read somewhere that they use farnesol in their formulation, which makes this prominent floral note understandable. a realistic level of flowery ripeness would be so much more subtle.
if you smell this without nitpicking over a one-note realism like i do, you’ll probably love this! if viewing this in a more objective sense, it’s a delicate citrusy lightly floral cheapie. inoffensive, not overwhelming, probably great for beginners.
for me, 8.3/10 on the scent (i’m simply picky), 2 hours max longevity if you overspray, and nose to skin sillage. i’ve seen people complain about the bottle but i enjoy the quirky bottle designs. only comment about it is that it can be hard to hold. price is good, guilt free. recommend if you like oranges!
white floral bomb
i asked for pure poison as a gift completely on a whim (blind) quite some time ago, and i have worn it many times since. i did not know much about fragrance notes and what this would smell like.
pure poison is pure gardenia amber and jasmine. the citrus notes are unnoticeable aside from a faint whisper of bergamot at first spritz. if you are looking for anything other than floral, look elsewhere.
this is not really my speed. it is extremely feminine and mature; think a wealthy and kind businesswoman, not elderly like in a rose scent.
it is astringent and powerful, it will absolutely hit you in the face if you overspray. i cannot wear more than a few sprays without getting a headache. if you are a lady in adulthood you will fit this scent better than i do. i also have no clue where people are smelling creaminess. powdery if anything.
i only wear this in the cold. definitely best for winter in my opinion.
final ratings: scent 6/10 (personal bias slightly against florals of this type), longevity around 9 hours, sillage past arms length. bottle design is cute though, i love the poison line’s bottles.
solid fresh scent for casual and active wear
i enjoy this thoroughly, especially at its price point. off rip you get a very strong lemon. it’s not juicy or realistic, almost leans into a cleaning product realm but not quite. noticeable ginger present as well. there’s a dry powdery note throughout the entire wear of this fragrance. i haven’t seen this listed in the official notes or accords, but it’s something to be noted nonetheless. it may be the specific type of woods or vetiver showing through.
as this dries the lemony citrus fades, the woods and masculine musk remains. i have worn this countless times and enjoy the way it dries on clothes. it’s distinctly male in the wood notes but in an inoffensive way to me. i prefer unisex fragrances but this is approachable for an androgynous experience too. your sense of smell is connected to your lived experience, so make your own connections.
i haven’t smelled the original fragrance people claim this is a dupe of, so i have no comment in that regard.
all in all, a solid citrus>powder>wood fresh scent that would go well fresh out of a shower or while working out. can’t beat under $40 fragrances.
scent 8/10, longevity for about 8 hours or a day on clothes, sillage past arms length within the first 2 hours of wear. i recommend!
the best orange you will ever find
i search high and low for realistic citrus scents, and thankfully i found this early on in my fragrance journey. arancia di capri, and acqua di parma’s blu mediterraneo line as a whole displays a mastery of citrus scents.
i love this fragrance so so much. i got a travel sample of it years ago and have a full bottle now because nothing has come close to this level of realism.
just smelling the lid you get the floral ripeness that emanates from an actual orange. this is something missing from a lot of other orange scents, they focus on peel and zest without paying attention to that specific note. at first spray, you unleash the true juicy perfection of an orange. genuinely makes my mouth water thinking about it. there is not a single bit missing from this, zest, pith, juice, it’s all blended so well.
people’s main complaints about arancia di capri is its longevity, and while i understand people wanting these to last longer, i also understand that this specific profile cannot last. if they added base notes that have longer longevity it would weigh the fragrance itself down and ruin the realism. for the 4-7 hours this lasts, it’s amazing. doesn’t make a cloud, doesn’t enter the room before you do, but that’s generally a good thing. enjoy your fragrance for yourself, not for others.
acqua di parma released a new iteration of this as arancia di capri la riserva, haven’t tried but has a woody base that will last longer if that’s appealing.
after a few hours this dries down into a sweet skin scent, an inoffensive musk that’s just barely noticeable. if you are sensitive to strong scents or get sick of them quickly, this is a great fragrance for you. i get instant headaches from some synthetic sweet fragrances, this does not have the nauseating and punchy notes that those do.
this is my all time favorite scent. similar cheaper fragrances tend to lean into some parts of the orange and miss the others. side note, i’m eternally grateful that this doesn’t have neroli in it!
the bottle is simple and the sprayer is nice, makes a decent cloud and is satisfying to use. simple, comes with a container to keep it inside and shield from the light. pleasant packaging experience.
this was worth the price and worth the wait.
10/10 realism and scent, 4-7 hour longevity, half an arms reach sillage. absolutely recommend.
