Realistic Book Scent

Realistic Book Scent 0

Hi I'm looking for a perfume that smells like a the pages of a book! Something dusty, cozy, and maybe a little vanilla from the book glue. I would prefer something that is on the less leathery side. Thanks!

Memoirs of a Trespasser The first one that came to mind for me. Perhaps more on the woody/vanilla side, but all of their perfumes have an old bookstore undertone to me. Hope you find what you're looking for!

I bought Fleur de Peau Eau de Parfum because it smelled exactly like the old books I used to borrow from libraries. Most of them were printed before the 60s and had a certain scent. I found it incredible and still do.

I avoided L'Eau Papier Eau de Toilette for a long time because I was annoyed at how far from the scent of paper it was. Once I disassociated it with paper and realized it was more of a sesame oil and rice fragrance, I was able to love it. However, many people say it does smell like paper, so I think the region, humidity, kind of paper and type of ink would all cause paper to smell wildly different across the world.

The middle to the dry down of Lord of Misrule Perfume somehow reminds me of the smell of old books. It has a certain dusty quality of vanilla and a bit of sweet earthiness from the patchouli. The overall composition feels dry and comforting like a day at the library. The pepper also blends nicely and reminds me of the distinct spiciness of yellowing paper.

L'Air de Rien

smells like you pulled an old paperback off a wooden shelf in a quiet room that hasn’t been aired out in a while, dusty, slightly sweet, and softly nostalgic...

For me, Heretic Dirty Vanilla smells like book binding glue 😀

Also, Liis Bo and YSL Muse smell like paper to me, and Muse even has a noticeable ink note

If you can handle heliotrope, maybe Alkemia Old Books and Fresh Flowers could work

Dark Tales Old Library dry-down really does smell like an old library to me
