No Buy, The Ultimate Test
very happy, and very appreciative. I think my favorite part of a no buy is learning to appreciate how exciting it can really be to be given a bottle of perfume. I guess I sort of forgot that feeling, I was used to acquiring so much, so often. The buzz lasted 2 days, maybe, before I thought of my next purchase. Perfumes feel different when they are gifts you didn't ask for. They are ultra precious, the buzz...

A Missed Oud
he points out. "Yes, but I've already smelled them all," she pouts. Walad claps his hands and gives orders for his merchants to return to Cypress and collect every chypre scent they can get their hands on. Yasmin is relieved to explore a new genre. I solemnly promise her that in the next post I'll resume Learning Chypre, and she can be its star. ...

Less Acquiring, More Appreciating, still Obsessive Thinking.
I know this sounds weird but when I go to other people's houses and see their scented product collections I sometimes feel really jealous of collections that are quaint, cute, and adored. Instead of stressing over how they are going to use all their stuff up and obsessing over what they can get next they just enjoy what they got. I want that simplicity in my life....

Fragrances bought and/or soon to be tested:
Chanel Sycomore and Bois des Iles, Caron Tabac Blond. I'd like to think I've gotten wiser with my perfume-buying habits this month. I don't know how though. Wrt other perfume-related goals, this month's perfume is Rogue by Rihanna, which I've been enjoying immensely. For the next two months they will be Moschino Funny! and Bvlgari Black, haven't yet decided which is going to be first....

Perfumista Snobs...Stop the Bullying
on our hobby and don't think twice. Look at your hobby and what it's worth. It's an investment. But that doesn't mean you can turn your nose up at those that don't understand the hobby. There are people that simply want to know what a perfume is about. They have $10 to spend and that's it for the next six months. Don't tell them to not waste their money on drugstore classics when that's all they...

Package tracking is so bad right now.
stores, but it is taking over a week for things to arrive or even for orders to be processed at all. It took bath and body works 6 business days to acknowledge my order. In this day and age, this shouldn't take so long. Want to know how they are compensating? They offered me free shipping....on my next order. I would rather they have taken off the shipping on my CURRENT order. In all honesty...

Such a cute company
the many proposals of fragrances for the databank last week, I came across this New Orleans company. It is full of treasures and provides custom blend also. On my next trip to New Orleans - whenever that may be - I shall seek them out. The purpose of this short blog is to share the website and I am not affiliated with this company. Take a look here and feast your eyes...

The Agua Lavanda Review That's Grown Out Of Control
trying this and sampling that, all the while passing up the huge, green, suspiciously cheap and shampoo-like bottles of Puig's Agua Lavanda. I firmly believe, that it was none other than the Gods of Perfumery who prompted one of my usual decanters to include a 10 ml sample of AL as a gift with my next purchase. I stuck it in the farmost corner of my bathroom shelf and forgot...

What is the difference between eau de parfum and eau de toilette in Perfumes?
about to buy. Perfume Extract (Extrait): The highest level of concentration, typically sold only in the top-of-the-line fragrance families such as Chanel No. 5. Concentration levels are between 15% and 40% fragrance, with 20% being typical. Eau de Parfum or Parfum de Toilette: The next highest level of fragrance and perfume concentration,...

A little rant
3 oz or liquids than cannot fit in a clear quart sized bag. Fast forward 8 hours later. I arrived home, and I unzipped my luggage. I know it was a long flight with some turbulence, but my bag was clearly rifled through. The receipt for my perfumes was crumpled when I know had it folded nicely next to one of the perfumes earlier. I found the See By Chloe in the corner of my suitcase where I left it, but the other...
