Chapter No. 7 - Vanillas Made To Shock You
and alcoholic opening, full of nuances of paper and wood, like the smell that permeates the air inside a historic library full of centuries-old books and ancient shelves. Iris and dusty violet are at the forefront, straight in the face like a punch. Dark, sandy, woody and resinous vanilla comes next. The fragrance seems to fade and then emits unburned incense-like qualities in a semi-powdery...

Journal Entry: Into The Hobby of Fragrances (Part 4)
bookshelf to make way for more fragrances (my bookshelf can now hold 48 full bottles on acrylic stands) I upgraded my acrylic display cases. I also bought A LOT of perfumes (travel sizes and full bottles) which made me put the brakes on everything for awhile and reevaluate (more on that in the next paragraph). I'm at the point where I think I'm done with what Sephora and Shopper's...

Bubble burst: the future of blind buying
ourselves a new and addictive means of entertainment whilst contributing to the economy- blind buying/ hauling perfumes bottles upon perfumes bottles. One could say that the pandemic is now over, life as we know it is back on the train tracks it used to run on... so what's next? I'll tell you what I suspect is next: sampling, sampling and sampling all the way. There will be a rise...

The myterious world of OUD to a newb.
the deep dive in to the world of fragrances and the notes that were tied to them. I understood there were vanilla fragrances, citrus etc, but i couldn't tell you which note was what other than i knew CK ONE was very bright, citrusy, energetic and unisex, and that was about the extent of it. The next part i feel will be a familiar road trip to many new collectors of the last 5 years or so as we jump...

The Slants
resemblance to Acqua di GiĆ² emerges more and more, whose DNA is intertwined with floral, salty, and woody nuances with puffs of gentle oud. It remains a fragrance for the warmer months, pleasant, and recommended for those who love the aquatic genre with an out-of-the-shower vibe. Not linear, the next day it is still present, more on the strip and less on the skin, but perceptible from a close distance with its watery...

How Do I Rate Perfumes On Parfumo
to part with or forget, a memorable scent to keep in my collection indefinetly. It's an automatic love at first sniff with no hesitation towards adding it to my collection. It's a perfume I know I won't ever find something comparable to it. I'll be buying a full bottle and then upgrading it to the next format (if available). Will be buying backups if I ever hear it getting discontinued.9: A nine...

Blind buying is disappointing.
buy from inexpensive stuff like ZARA launches to niche fragrances. Therefore our blind buying is rather more overconsuming than blind trust to karma pot luck! Many expensive houses provide tiny samples of their perfumes, but there at not samples for all their creations. Think more or think twice next time you blind buy, maybe try a sample of a similar scent in terms of notes listed. Finally I am including...

When you take a nose turn
had previously in mind to write, is an attempt to justify myself through the shared experiences of other fraglovers in what I call a 'nose turn'. This phenomenon includes (but is not limited to) loving a fragrance note and then (suddenly, it would seem to you) detesting it with all your heart the next season. It has once again happened to me- with roses of all things! As I write, there is a bouquet of white...

Virtual Noses: How Artificial Intelligence Can Revolutionize the Fragrance World

Led by neuroscientist Alex Wiltschko,...
