Almost Cool Water
Amber Oud Carbon Edition is a great, smooth marine type of fragrance. Of all the fragrances listed as similar, the only one I've tried (and have) is Cool Water. These two are about 85% to 90% the same scent, once they dry down. They start out completely different however. Cool Water opens quite floral and biting while AOCE is smoother and woodier from the start. Both fragrances settle down quickly (about 15 to 20 minutes) to their final scent which I'd describe as smooth, woody with a bit of remaining marine accord. The marine or aquatic accord is not overwhelming, fishy, salty or stale but quite subtle. If you like Cool Water, you'll like Amber Oud Carbon Edition.

AOCE has an edge over Cool Water when it comes to longevity. With Cool Water I only get about 4 to 5 hours while AOCE was still going at 8 hours. Projection for both was average; you won't fill a room with either of them.

Since I already have a bottle of Cool Water, I'm not going to bother with AOCE. Once I use up the Cool Water, I'll get AOCE instead because of the better longevity.

Shaving foam from tomorrow ...
... could smell like the Amber Oud Carbon Edition which I think is a fabulous perfume. My 2.5ml bottling is in its last drops and my thoughts are ripe for a more detailed comment.

I would like to elaborate on the fragrance character of AOC by comparing it to Eternity for Men Eau de Toilette.

Eternity, which I tried recently, is, like AOC, a shaving foam fragrance. Both fragrances carry the tangy spice that I associate with classic men's fragrances. But there are big differences in their presentation.

Eternity is a well-chosen title for the CK. Its shaving foam fragrance is very tame, pleasing and well-groomed, while at the same time unmistakably classic. Theoretically, it could remain in fashion forever; yesterday, today, tomorrow. But the AOC has a bolder concept. It does not renew yesterday's fragrance DNA under the idea of mainstreaming...

...but in the sense of streamlining. The result is a sandblasted, tidy, smooth fragrance landscape in which the classic notes are present but no longer tangible. The crowning glory of the fragrance (which I find very appealing) lies in the prominent, hairdresser-like chemical freshness, which breathes a strange humanity, something very familiar, into AOC.

I would like to praise the "era management". In AOC, the annoyingly yesterday combine with the lifelessly futuristic in a very beautiful way. Suddenly, something that would have drifted into the old-fashioned or clinical if taken separately is enjoyable, but together complements each other extremely well ... indeed transformed!

i end this fragrance review with a big "general recommendation", because almost everything about this product is just right. Especially if you like the hairdressing skin note of the This Is Him! Undressed or are looking for a special, modern shaving foam fragrance (neither watered down nor too pleasing) could enjoy AOC. I will probably get myself a full size.

It’s not a clone of Green Irish Tweed. It is a poor man’s (super synthetic) clone of Cool Water. The scent has a note of cheap laundry detergent. Meh!

Extremely synthetic clone of Green Irish Tweed from the otherwise good company. Not as cheap as the quality would suggest.
