Very good, but linear

I get here the cardamon giving shape to Mocha, in the same vibe the ginger giving shape to Tobacco in Tobacco Vanille. They are not comparable scents, of course. It's instead how these darker (Mocha and Tobacco) notes play with fresher (Cardamon and Ginger).

The first spray is mesmerizing. So delicious. Smells sophisticated, bright, fresh sweet. I don't get a lot of cinnamon here, which may indicate a good blending with something else (the Caramel?).

I have a selection of fragrances I put on my Hall of Fame, and this one almost made its way to it if it wasn't for the linearity. After 4 hours, almost 5, the scent is more or less the same. The same cardamon, the same Mocha, only slightly subdued and with a tiny hint of powdery.

The linearity of the fragrance makes it a bit tiring and monotonous. Not necessarily a problem, but it steals a lot of its good grades.

Occasion: I would mostly pick it for a night out, evening, and gatherings leaning towards special occasions. Not your next office, day-to-day fragrance. But an excellent addition to the collection.

Coffee+cardamom

The opening is a freshly brewed and aromatic coffee. This note is perfectly complemented by cardamom, which adds a spicy touch. The fragrance remains fairly linear throughout, with a longevity of about 8+ hours and a very strong sillage during the first 2 hours.

Unfortunately, the newer batches no longer have the same longevity as the 2019 one I own. Nevertheless, I recommend this fragrance to those who enjoy coffee notes in perfumery.

Cardamom and some more cardamom

You really, REALLY have to love cardamom to love this fragrance. Sometimes I cook with cardamom, sometimes I brew with cardamom and what I've learned with that is that you have to be really careful with this powerful spice or it will ruin whatever you were working on. I've got the impression that the perfumer of Intoxicated didn't get the memo and threw in all cardamom they had. Which is a lot.

Anyway. It may not look like it but I'm no cardamom hater. It's just way too strong for me and I really loathe it in this fragrance. Looking at the notes there should be a hint of coffee and some sweetness but I don't get that at all. Maybe my nose is just oversensitive for this spice but it gets a nope from me.

Varied and Memorable

I have the Oil Perfumery version. I get coffee + aldehydes and citrus off the top (bergamot) which is such a fun mix of contrasting scents it confuses my nose in the best way. I can’t pick out the tobacco (some say smoke) or balsam fir for the mocha and the florals, but I assume they just all blend seamlessly. This has quite a soapy dry-down, so I don’t categorize it as a gourmand. Fresh for Spring, but cozy for winter. Great year-round to my sensibilities.

One of my first real perfumes

I have been introduced to Kilian by a friend who worked in a perfume shop in Switzerland, Basel.

She said the scent would work great on my skin.

I then tried it out! I enjoyed it a lot, its a very sultry, sweet scent. I do feel like the name is deserved. I wished it would stay longer on my skin. The performance is okay, but I definitely expected more for this price.

I would go for masar, by pernoire in the future though
