The one that Professor McGonagall would wear

I found out this is the suede-forward perfume after I ordered online without reading the reviews. I thought this will go to my "resell" pile. How wrong was I... As soon as I sprayed it on my wrist for the first time, I immediately put this into "the perfume I will always have in my collection" pile.

I don't associate fruity or floral with this perfume. As soon as you smell this, you will know this is the suede scent. And it's a bit woody to me. Plum and the flowers just take support roles to soften up the suede and cedar.

It definitely gives out a vintage feel in a good way. It somehow reminds me of a library filled with leather-covered books , a visit to the cathedrals on a slightly damp day & a harry potter movie...

I wish the performance could be just a little bit better than this. I get that this cannot be a loud or a room-filling perfume. I just wish this to be strong enough for me to enjoy without having to sniff the spots I sprayed or for others to enjoy without having to hug me. Longevity is decent though.

Despite the weak sillage, I will always wear this on a cool , cloudy or a rainy day when I have to sit in front of a computer doing research or working on a project.

Light plummy musk with the lightest touch of darkness

Most perfumes are fresher in the opening, warmer and more sensual in the drydown. With Musc Noir it's the other way round for me.

At first I get plum and musk with lots of suede that reminds me of tobacco. It has that warm, almost spicy scent that you will also find in feminine tobacco fragrances. The plum is neither very sour, nor sweet and jammy, it's just the fruit in its perfect stage of ripeness.
But over the time the suede and tobacco slowly vanish and the musk takes center stage. There is still some plum, but the drydown is mainly a clean floral musk on my skin.

Is it "noir"? Not really in my opinion. If the drydown delivered on the promises of the opening, the name would be more fitting. The bottle design in transparent plummy pink with a little black suits the scent well.

It seems to me like Narciso Rodriguez scents from this decade stray from the once successful formula of using one specific musk for all the oblong bottles and another one for all the square bottles. So if you're looking for the typical For Her line sultry musk, better look elsewhere.

Musc Noir doesn't blow me away, but it's a good and pleasant scent that could be worn on many occasions, day and night, as it's clean and fresh, but with a little mystery to it. If you want more of it, try the Musc Noir Rose flanker. That's were there real noir vibe is at!

One of the Best Day, Office, "My Skin But Better" Scents

I recently purchased some samples of many different perfumes and also added a sample of Musc Noir For Her by NR, one of the very few Narciso perfumes I hadn't smelled, and yes, I like this one as well. It is a "my skin but better" fragrance, a "no-perfume" perfume.

It is by far the most toned down from the For Her collection, it has a fruitness from the plum in the opening, but not juicy-like, but jam plum after some minutes it becomes very slightly flowery and vanilla-y with the slightest touch of almonds and after an hour or two it settles down in the most gorgeous skin-like powdery, creamy musk with suede. If someone wants a clean perfume without the soapy/deodorant/shampoo feeling you are here.

I have seen people complain about longevity, but I don't think it's the issue here. I could still smell it for a solid 7 hours after I sprayed it on myself, BUT the sillage is very very intimate. VERY intimate, put your nose on my skin intimate, I could smell it on me, but people around me didn't give it any thought except if they were extremely close to the point of touching me. And this is where Noir comes into play I think. When I first sprayed it on I was so confused with the name Noir, which inclines you towards a darker/ night perfume and this ain't it, but it is an intercourse perfume for sure. It smells so good and so clean and skin-like creamy powder, but also sweet and slightly fruity, that if you are intimate with someone it will be detectable and they will enjoy it. It is Noir because it's perfect for personal night activities, not for a night out and the bottle/color I think supports that, white/rosy/nude, sheer, undetectable, and sleek.

Loved it, my favorite from the For Her line, I am thinking of a bigger bottle. Not for people who want statement perfumes, perfumes that cling, and perfumes with sillage.

Difficult to Explain but Addictive

This was a blind buy success. I picked this up because I was looking for a perfume with a good suede note that was not Jo Malone's Peony and Blush Suede.

This is a hard scent to describe for me but I find it addictive. It is an incredibly soft suede note, just like you are wearing a suede motorcycle jacket. This is a very feminine and in some ways almost flirtatious, confident, yet understated scent. This is the smell of a woman who knows her value and has her life together. She has nothing to prove and is unapologetic in her femininity. Neither is she brash or reckless though. She knows the value of nuance and subtlety. The plum stands out on my skin much more to me than in other plum fragrances (e.g. Nest Black Tulip.) Despite the Noir in the name and even though I really like wearing it to bed quite a bit, I think it is very much an office/business appropriate scent and I do wear this to work as well.

I think the longevity is quite good and it can get me through a 7-8 hr workday. Sillage is average/moderate and I can smell it on my wrists while I am typing at my desk.

From spicy to musky cleanness

This is absolutely beautiful. Happy that I bought the biggest bottle. It starts off spicy and sweet and after a couple of hours it turns into the most beautiful elegant clean musky scent. Never boring though. It works for any occasion. It doesn't last as long on me as Pure Musc (which lasts 3 days) but I still smell it all day. As a musk fan I must say that this is musk done perfectly.
