Encens Suave Matière Première 2019 Eau de Parfum

I had the chance to try Radical Rose and I was impressed with the quality of the smell, it is not a perfume for me but it brought Matiere Premiere into my radar.

During the last haul purchase I considered to blind buy the Encens Suave, because it´s the best rated on Parfumo and it has some notes which I like, such as Frankincense, Coffee and Vanilla.

When I first smelled it, it started strong with frankincense so I thought it´s a mistake and should go into the Souk right away, because I have Royal Incense which smells like Omani FI so makes no sense to have another one like it.

And after 20 min it started to come to life.

The benzoin ambery note mixed with the coffee is just something to die for, not overly sweet, not overly bitter .. just right mix between them. And even longer in the dry-down, the vanilla also comes into play and it mixed with the other high quality ingredients to create a very addictive smell.

It would be great to wear at work, out, at a party and also for your own satisfaction on the couch .. I do not see it leaning neither feminine nor masculine so the perfumer has created here the perfect Perfume Jolly:

Encens Suave is a sweet airy frankincense fragrance. By "airy" I mean it is the sharp flinty frankincense of Series 3: Incense - Avignon, Cardinal, or Mortel, rather than the denser resinous frankincense found in many Amouages for example. The sweetness is a bit too much here, and I find it similar to a similar accord in Admirabilis that turned me a bit off from that one as well. "Vanilla" is not a good descriptor of this sweet accord. It's a sugary candy-like scent that doesn't have the warmth or powderiness of vanilla. I didn't realize there was supposed to be any coffee in Encens Suave until I pulled up this page to do the review. Definitely don't get that note at all; it's essentially just the airy frankincense note and that synthetic sugary sweet accord. Honestly, I'd rather just have the incense.

Encens Suave from French House of Niche Haute Luxury Matiere Premiere is a perfume Amber Spicy Incensed Vanilla Coffee. Its release was in 2019; the perfumer who signs this fragrance is Aurelien Guichard, founder and owner of the brand.

It opens with a vanilla coffee, much more vanilla than coffee for my taste. Next to it a great steamy dark frankincense bringing an arabesque atmosphere, it's like sitting in an Arabic Café surrounded by futuristic skyscrapers in some modern capital of the Near East; Delicious perfume. This fragrance will do better in cooler temperatures. This House has an excellent quality of ingredients, often even unusual exotics.

A base with resins dominated by benzoin and just a touch of labdanum adds more sweetness to the fragrance and a smoky and slightly balsamic ambery facet.
A great perfume, but it could be a little less sweet at this stage, maybe with less vanilla and a little more incense in my opinion. Thankfully, from the middle to the drydown, this initial sweetness gives a good shrunk balancing the composition. It performs great!

In this proposal I still prefer the crystalline incense and golden honey of Royal Incense from OmanLuxury, which is a much richer, less sweet, more incense, more liturgical, ceremonial perfume due to a frankincense also of great quality and a more harmonious, luxurious, traditional arabesque composition. But Encens Suave is an excellent perfume Amber Spicy Incensed Vanilla Coffee, delicious; Very approved!

It's an autumn or winter day. The air is chilly. If you want to be cheered up, Encens Suave is the ticket. It’s a cheerful, wonderfully mixed incense. but one that is warmer and sweeter below the top incense. The vanilla and labdanum smooth it out, sweeten it. In the last few weeks, as the temperatures get close to freezing, it’s become what I want to wear almost every day. And I probably will do so until spring. To me, this is a masterpiece, a warm, inviting, comforting creation.

Of course, it’s incense driven, specifically frankincense. But it’s a cheery, sweet incense, one made softer and accessible by the vanilla/labdanum. Despite what others often say, I don’t find it that “church-like,” perhaps because to me “church-like” would be darker, heavier, more somber. This almost feels sunny — it can be worn day or night. One of the reasons I believe Encens Suave works is the constituent scents — the frankincense, benzoin, bourbon vanilla, labdanum and coffee — combine so well and in balance. And they are clearly of quality, and are not synthetic. Some folks may not smell the coffee, but it’s there as a very subtle undertone that has melded into the other scents. The “smoky” quality comes out, I feel, during the dry-down, which is where the freshness off the top calms down becomes a more subdued, but no less pleasant, comfortably enfolding scent. Perhaps this is where people feel it is church like; I smell a old wood vibe, like the smell of old pews, but again there is a sunniness to it, mot a somberness. Perhaps a church on a bright sunny day with light streaming in?

I feel I can wear this as a day scent any day. And short of a formal occasion, it works in the evening as well. The longevity on me is long and the silage moderate.

Absolutely worth trying. Do yourself a favor.

This is an incense scent I can finally get behind - true to name, this scent is warmed up and ever so slightly rounded out and sweetened by the labdanum. While I didn't immediately pick up the coffee, my spouse commented it has a faint cocoa vibe, which I did then detect and I think my brain sometimes conflates cocoa with coffee. I already have a bottle of Babycat, which this does remind me of, but I think Encens Suave is less vanilla-forward? I got a 6ml to test and am considering a fb because this is delicious - love at first wear for me.
