Insouciance
Marcel Lucont is a cabaret artist and above all an entertainer. The Frenchman has specialized in taking the quirks and peculiarities of the Brits to task with his trained senses. And he doesn't hold back. With a strong accent, he speaks the truth as it is. With deeply dark humor.
Marcel always relies on closeness to the audience. He masters both the casual style of entertainment along his current program and shines in stand-up. It is this special atmosphere of leather chairs with patina, the smoke in the curtains, and the wood, the scent of a good drink, whether wine or whiskey. Everything united in the aura of a nightclub.
For the Edinburgh Festival, Marcel had his bespoke fragrance created by Sarah from 4160 Tuesdays.
The scent of this aura has captivated Marcel. And if Insouciance were to be described with just a few chords, they would be: tobacco, smoky wood, whiskey, red wine, and patchouli. I would have seen each of these ingredients in my personal bespoke fragrance as well.
The fragrance starts with a rather earthy-moist tobacco, which after about an hour beautifully melds with wood and light accents of barrel-aged spirits. A slightly earthy nuance of patchouli remains, giving the whole a wonderful dark appearance. The dark corner of the nightclub, if you will.
And just like that - playfully moving between the worlds of the bright spotlight on stage, the comfortable leather chairs and heavy wooden tables, to the drinks and the veil of darkness - is Insouciance.
The wonderful lightheartedness.
Fulfilled laughter.
Glances in the half-light.
My signature.
PS: The fragrance was available for a short time at 4160 Tuesdays as 15ml bottles. Marcel kept the amount (in the bottle) extra small to allow the "poor" Brits to purchase it at his stand during the festival. (Delightful!) In the meantime, a few bottles are still available in his online shop.
However, my most wonderful moment was when Sarah allowed me to fill two bottles from the remaining production that she still had.
