We all went on our Holidays to the Beach
Sky of blue, and sea of breeze,
stick of minty rock, and ice cream.
Suntan oil, with coconut, and some
Candy floss, in the beach hut...
Ha ha!

We all went on our holidays to the beach,
it was lots of fun,
it is lots of fun.

Powdery Mint-Vanilla Perfume
At the start, I wonder: Who wants to smell like peppermint gum?

After testing this EdP for the third time, I answer this question by saying that I probably do.

Once the first 10 minutes with the gum scent are over, the fragrance shifts into a pleasant sandy mint-vanilla note with coconut, melon, and wood in the background. And it lasts for 12 hours without being overpowering.

During my third test, I sprayed "Capri Forget Me Not (Profumo)" on the other wrist for comparison, as that was the only fragrance I had at home that also contains peppermint. However, the two perfumes have nothing in common. "Capri Forget Me Not" is a cool, elegant scent with citrus notes, while "What I Did On My Holidays" is soft and powdery. I like it.

Darling, the sands are so close it´s a cloud in my memory… *
Since I received a sample from the lovely first commenter, I have been in dialogue with this fragrance - it tells me stories and conjures images in my mind, it creates its own feeling… therefore, I cannot help but share it, even though it could be described very simply and briefly: cotton candy with a hint of mint….
But HOW this is done, I find particularly special. And not just me… Luca Turin writes in his blog: “One of the most exhilarating topnotes in living memory, with mint and candyfloss playfully fighting one another for our attention. Lovely stuff.”
This fragrance simply does not want to be a big perfume in my imagination; it does not really feel “perfumey,” it is more like a whisper of a memory, a nostalgic image, a faded Polaroid. I find LadyViolet's image of Brighton, the largest seaside resort in England, located on the English Channel, very fitting. Because there is (according to photos, I have never been there) a fairground with a large Ferris wheel right by the beach. This kind of amusement arose long after its time, and yet I must, perhaps due to nostalgia, also think of Jane Austen with this fragrance, who particularly in “Pride and Prejudice” already in 1813 evoked the English preference for their seaside resorts.
“They praised the morning; gloried in the sea; sympathised in the delight of the fresh-feeling breeze - and were silent..“
The fresh breeze sweeps over me immediately after spraying “What I did on my Holidays,” a very fresh, almost slightly sharp mint note. Yet this breeze gets caught in the Ferris wheel and takes a detour over the cotton candy stand, the freshness and sharpness fade, leaving this unusual minty sweetness, combined with a hint of freshly cut melon, which is playful but does not come across as childish. Not at all like the various interchangeable sweet waters that fill the shelves of drugstores and are presumably aimed at a young audience. Rather, it is the childhood reminiscence of an adult.
It corresponds well to Elizabeth Bennet, the heroine of the novel. “She had a lively, playful disposition, which delighted in anything ridiculous.” A fragrance with a wink, like a fresh breeze that brings along a soft blanket to snuggle in, like passing clouds and thoughts of the past. A childhood photo, faded, with creases and edges, softened by time and memory. Or an old essay, rediscovered after years in the drawer, titled “What I did in my holidays…”

Vacation in Blackpool, Brighton or Bournemouth
For all those who can still remember the green cotton candy of their childhood. "What I did on my holidays" indeed exudes retro vacation vibes at a seaside resort on the Atlantic that has probably seen better days. Fresh sweet peppermint, salty sea air envelops you in a cozy softness. Actually, none of these are my usual notes, but here they come together very harmoniously. Optimal for gray autumn days, as a mood lifter. It lasts all day at work, into the evening. The sillage is also good, certainly not a background fragrance.
The bottle is now also printed and much more attractive than the one shown here.

Perfect salty, sweet scent. The mint keeps everything refreshing. Favorite salt/sea notes ever

Really fun coconut vanilla scent with a brilliant minty splash. Such a good idea! Unfortunately a bit too sweet and fatty for me, but nice

Lying relaxed on a mint mattress
The cucumber dangles in ice water
Lemon iced tea
Oh, drifting lavender dust...
Doesn't match my vacation

An aquate with coconut, peppermint, and lavender. It actually smells a bit like After Eight chocolate - fresh-coconut-minty.

Heaven! At first, it smells exactly like ice candies.
Unfortunately, after about 15 minutes, a rancid coconut joins in!

Cocktail time.. What a kick
Fresh mint peeks through with lingering coconut, a hint of cucumber too
Deliciously fresh and fruity, not sweet
Wow

I make myself a smoothie with mint, cucumber, melon, and coconut water and pour it over my head. Refreshing! But not my summer scent!

After the coconut shake, a mint gum.
Another citrusy, delicious soda.
Ah, how harmonious it is with your coconut body lotion.

Not so great from reading the scent notes - but it has something. I like the combo with the prominent mint.

After Eight as a scent: chocolatey-minty, rather cool and distant, hardly changeable, not very perfumey and more on the edible side.
