Iris Violet Alexandre.J 2015

For me, all the perfumes of the brand smell the same : cheap, heavy and synthetic, nothing nice.
I can't, really, I can't, it makes me sick, and it was hate at first sniff.
I can't even talk about the notes, I detected any of them in that mixture.
The bottle, still full, is now used as a decoration in my home office.

For me, this is an uncomplicated scent that reminds me of fizzy Fanta.
In the summer, I quite like to wear it for a change.
It doesn’t annoy anyone and is therefore perfect for leisure, sports, or work.
The longevity is rather average - for me, it lasts 4 to 5 hours.
The bottle is definitely eye-catching.

Exotic fruits are fine. Starfruit, kiwi, pineapple? Anything is conceivable. Served on a board of artificial wood. Alongside a light fruity bite that may represent apple and bergamot and subtly reminds one of hairspray.

Additionally, there’s something dusty-sweet to be sensed, perhaps similar to cinnamon. Vanilla à la Dr. Oetker's paradise cream greets us before we are - apparently, industrial processing occurred in a flash! - meant to consume a layer of canned fruit. Presumably, we are dealing with a general fruit note from the lab. Gradually, I diagnose a kind of mossy scraping in the background. Even during the morning, the fruity-floral fades away, giving way to a delicate vanilla-sweet, woody-amber base that, while not excessive, is surprisingly distinctively smoky with a dark fruity veil, which, despite a strict off-note, at least does not smell like aged dried fruit. This early yet quietly enduring final accord is the best part of the fragrance and is comparatively decent, but after such a beginning, it simply seems inconsistent.

“Iris Violet,” oh really… Hints of iris have a hard time here. No, let’s face the truth. Iris? I can’t even make out a hint of carrot.

Speaking of carrot: After about an hour, I thought of fruit puree from a baby jar. Only a floral sting close to the skin and this diffuse, cinnamon-brambly suggestion from the background maintained the form. My offspring has long outgrown that stage anyway.

Twice speaking of offspring: I received the sample at Sens Unique in Paris, for my daughter. The lady said she would offer Alexandre J to those customers wanting to take their first steps into niche fragrances. Hmm, what the niche newcomers can primarily learn from this is that a proud price (100ml costs 98 euros) does not guarantee adequate performance. I am certainly no expert in this fragrance category, but even I can spontaneously think of better and more characterful options, like Carthusia, for less money.

Conclusion: Moderate. Disappointing for floral-fruit lovers. And those who want a base of the described kind probably do not want to search behind a fruit layer.
