Ambre Gris is an interpretation of amber, which offers amber without more, is subtle and simple, but of a refined, stylish and gentle simplicity, a sober, elegant and androgynous simplicity, which I liked very much.
It is cataloged as feminine, but the box and the bottle are marked with the unisex symbol, and a long time ago, when I tried it for the first time, the lady of a perfume shop, also offered it to me as unisex, if not, I would not even have noticed it .
The perfume is an amber, sweet and balsamic accord, of a beautiful luminosity and freshness. In the beginning this amber sweetness is bent by subtle citrus nuances, fresh and fruity, which at no time eclipses the warmth of amber, but brings freshness. This beginning is ephemeral, it lasts nothing. Then, subtly, the fragrance is dusted with some floral, ethereal and translucent vapors, very beautiful, creating an amber aroma, warm and very powdery, which reminds me of dressing powder, but not of any dressing table, rather it would be, a French dressing table of the 18th century with its wigs and overflowing with ultra-expensive makeup powders. Little by little, a more resinous and masculine amber is seen, sweet, but rough and vanilla, where a creamy sandalwood spins that begins to correct the previous grounding, and shows us a more crude and woody ambarate accord, although equally precious.
In my opinion, it is a mainly feminine perfume, but I have no problem in dressing. The beginning is the most feminine part of the perfume, then, as it develops, it loses that excessive femininity and a much more bearable aroma appears for a man, and although I have more masculine amber perfumes, this one seems equally good to me .
The performance is good, on my skin it has been about 8 hours, although, of course, its projection is moderately soft, it is an intimate and close perfume. Its use is appropriate in cold and temperate climates, and indifferently day or night, it is not an intrusive or annoying perfume, so it is very versatile in this aspect.
Perfume highly recommended for women who like these amber chords, but, for men, I would only recommend it if you are open-minded and you like this type of notes, if not, you better not even try it because you will probably call it feminine.
