Fleeting
Not like Varvatos' first release but in the same area, dark, sweet but doesn't project or hang around.
I love it, Apple and coffee are a lot more noticeable than the leather.
Cooler weather and evening no-brainer for nicer casual events.

Alberto, Angel and the Indecisiveness
So far, there are seven bottles in my permanent collection, fragrances of varying levels, all of which (along with many decants and samples) are used repeatedly or still come into play. Two of them, about 30%, come from Alberto Morillas, which I just recently realized and probably would never have known without Parfumo... They are "Romeo Gigli per Uomo" and "Mugler Cologne".
This fragrance came to me through a raffle (Thank you, Showdown, for the lovely event!) and I feel compelled to say something about it.
It will not increase the share of Morillas fragrances in my collection.
The cap is very difficult to open.
The fresh-sour opening is indeed fresh and as amusing as a somewhat too neat suit wearer trying to appear casually cool can be. Here I think to myself: It’s not that bad at all. The apple note dominates over the citrus, it’s quite a green apple...
From afar, there’s also a scent memory of "Borsalino" (Maybe that rings a bell for someone here...) I can’t verify it, but the fragrance pyramid tells me that it’s not entirely far-fetched.
Instead of playing out the contrast between the leathery-woody base and the apple freshness, the fragrance takes a flight towards "Sweet". This sweetness looms and threatens right from the start, but as they say, hope dies last...
How boring! Although I generally have real difficulties with sweet fragrances and I try not to overrate that, this one is such an unoriginal and simultaneously shapeless sweetness that simply prevents the fragrance - regardless of what "direction" it might take - from developing. It just remains stuck in this somewhat greasy sweetness and doesn’t move an inch further. The fragrance has become a decision-making blockade.
The first impression is almost nostalgic, Old-School-like, but instead of detonating a spice bomb or doing anything at all, it presents itself as "modern":
Sweet and coffee and cedar and tonka bean... Yawn!
The whole thing is made a bit smoother with musk - it’s supposed to come off clean, but somehow, I can’t find the right adjective, it comes across as slightly disreputable or insincere, forced.
I really resent the creation for teasing something beautiful at first, then giving up everything and seeking refuge in this overly adjusted sweetness.
Wood and leather remain in the realm of utmost harmlessness. And I would have clearly wished for more cedar here...
This fragrance leaves a lot to be desired, one becomes an amateur perfumer, always thinking: "Maybe a bit more of this or a little less of that, then it could really be good."
But have I mentioned that this sweet flattening begins after about 10 to 15 minutes? From then on, not much happens except for a constant diminuendo, until right at the end, after about four to five hours, the cedar reappears.
What a pity, we could have used you earlier.

Dear Alberto Morillas, I thank you for the many beautiful hours and memories with two of your fragrances, but when you set to work again, let me tell you: "Dare! You can do it, that’s for sure. But those who try to meet too many expectations can eventually not take a step forward."
And that’s how "Essential for Men" smells.

An unknown acquaintance,...
...whom I haven't missed so far.
Christmas time, what do we give Dad? Of course, something leathery-woody. The long-awaited, classic Maserati with its orgy of the finest leather and wood in the interior, no, far from it, nothing from bella Italia.
Instead, there is an equally Mediterranean, elegantly designed perfume bottle from Spain. Wow. To cut the whole story short, noble bottle, that was it. Unfortunately, and this brings us back to some exotic cars, attractive on the outside, yes almost erotic, but the inner values are not so great.
It's a little scent, the gray mouse from accounting. There are many of them, and trying to think of one, you don't really have a clear image in mind.
Essential by Angel Schlesser for Men, and surely also well-suited for Women. With its never too harsh-fruity opening, and as it develops, with its evolving woodiness/leathery notes, never overwhelmingly unpleasant, the sillage is rather always discreetly reserved. In my humble opinion, it's the refined/discreet scent for business par excellence. The gray mouse, when properly dressed up, absolutely has its values, can develop charm, and suddenly isn't so uninteresting after all.
But what about the header? The unknown acquaintance is now on my mind. There is one or more scent twins, but I can't quite figure it out. From the depths of my memory, a men's fragrance by Laura Biagiotti comes to mind, but that's how it is with gray mice....;-)
