Finally a leather fragrance that I like
I'm actually not a big fan of leather fragrances, as the leather note is often too intense, dominant, earthy and far too masculine for me.
With "Liwan / ليوان | Ard Al Zaafaran / ارض الزعفران التجارية", however, it's completely different.

"Liwan" starts directly fruity and leathery.
I notice a lot of davana, which I really like because the smell reminds me of prunes: sweet, with a hint of cognac and the scent of apricots.
The davana is joined by bergamot, which gives it a certain freshness.
At the same time, the leather is present. It is soft, gentle, natural and subtly woody.
I also perceive oud, but it is not animalistic, but warm and spicy.
It gives the fragrance a very nice oriental touch.

Davana and leather are the most present notes right up to the drydown, which can also be clearly perceived throughout the fragrance, with Davana slightly in the foreground.

For me, "Liwan / ليوان | Ard Al Zaafaran / ارض الزعفران التجارية" is very similar to "Laathani /للاثاني | Ahmed Al Maghribi" as well as to Marj Eau de Parfum, although the oud is much more prominent in "Marj".

The longevity is very good. I perceive it for about 8 hours, on clothes even the next day.
P/L is top, as it is sometimes available for less than 20 euros.

For me, it is a unisex fragrance that has a slight masculine tendency due to the leather-oud combination, but it also goes very well with a woman because of its fruity sweetness.

It is a fragrance for spring and summer, except on very hot days of over 30° it would be a bit too much for me due to the woody spiciness.

"Liwan / ليوان | Ard Al Zaafaran / ارض الزعفران التجارية" is a fruity, not too sweet oriental fragrance to which the leather note fits very well and both harmonize beautifully with each other.
I am happy that I could test "Liwan" and thank Garnele who was once again so kind and gave me the opportunity to test this fragrance.
I liked it so much that a bottle was already allowed to move into my collection some time ago.

Surprising cheapie
I actually didn't expect a Cheapie a la Lattafa sub-brands to win me over like this again. I once owned a magnificent amount of Lattafa fragrances, but over time the scents became more and more unbearable, so I sold or gave away most of my collection.

Sometimes the silage is rather meagre; there is no progression or the (ethyl) maltol is so excessively overdosed that any form of nuance is suffocated in the disgusting sweet goo (if it's not deliberate anyway to distract from the incomplete or immature formula).
I also don't want to suggest at all that the Liwan doesn't come across as sweet or even synthetic :)
But it creates the perfect symbiosis, considering the price, between tart, bitter, orange-colored sweetness (core even somehow reminds me of Khamrah, although I don't like it at all), fresh and oriental.

The tart, cooling, synthetically fresh note, presumably the rosemary (although this listing can be classified more as a marketing gag, because nothing here smells like an authentic rosemary accord), accompanies the osmanthus-orange cocktail, which is subtly reminiscent of Khamrah, for a remarkably long time.

Incidentally, I would classify Liwan more as "adult".
Not because young people can't wear it, but precisely because the bitter-tart projection has something subtly "old man"-ish about it.

A fragrance that I would describe as "Jack of all trades, master of none". So in principle similar to "Dubai - Rimal (Eau de Parfum) | Nabeel", but without being reminiscent of it.

Mediocre freshness, mediocre citrus, mediocre floral, mediocre oriental, ... (etc.) result in the end in an unexpectedly beautiful and above all very favorable fragrance experience.

H/S also really blew me away, by the way. Not Beastmode per se, but close. you will definitely get 4-4 hours of noticeable projection here.

PS: Incidentally, I get neither oud nor leather out of it. Oud at most through the patchouli, with which oud is often used together in accords. Darker patchouli, on the other hand, actually comes through quite well here.

My recommendation is actually: Better to buy it than to regret it later when it's OOS ;))

P/L is hard to beat, the scent is great, but not necessarily a blind buy
The packaging is really something. Many can take a leaf out of its book.

Starts fresh, fruity and sweet, like a pear/bergamot/plum mix or something, hard to pin down exactly. All with an accompanying alcohol note. An oud-like note is pleasant and buzzes around discreetly, is also perceptible, but blends in well. It is not so dominant. And after a while, it is also clear to say that it is not an oud scent, which disappears almost completely in the meantime. Son herbal touch also comes through more later. Leather can be detected, but also very gently.
Liwan is neither a freshie nor extremely oriental. It is somewhere in between. It's not a gourmand either, but it smells delicious and cuts it a little.
Definitely a friendly fragrance that does a lot of things right. Also rather an all-rounder, not a typical winter fragrance, I even see it more on a summer evening or something. At 30 degrees it's a bit too sweet for me. Yes, what am I supposed to babble on about now. Unisex wearable, not a masculine bomb now. Fragrance is great and something special with all-round qualities. But you have to keep in mind that it's sweet. If you don't like sweet stuff, especially if it has a kind of liquid sweetener/fruit muesli note, you should keep your distance.
If you were to tell someone: This is a €150 fragrance, no one would probably question it. Even if there is a hint of synthetics, Liwan is simply well made.

Oud and leather (also) for the summer (Gissah Imperial Valley Alternative)
Oud and leather for summer? That's not possible? But it is possible! And Liwan proves it.

I was a bit skeptical at first too.
I would never wear leather in summer and certainly not oud.

But the Liwan starts with an incredibly beautiful juicy, sweet davana note and a fresh bergamot.
The combination is fresh, sweet, fruity and summery.
I also detect pepper, which gives the fragrance a pleasant spiciness.

I gradually notice the leather.
It harmonizes perfectly with the fruity notes and never becomes more present than these.
So you don't get leather a la Ombre Nomade or anything like that here.
It just gives the fragrance a masculine touch.

The oud in the DD is also more present in the background.
It is neither animalic nor medicinal, nor is it realistic oud.
It's difficult to describe, but it gives the fragrance a subtle oriental vibe that adds the finishing touch.

The davana is the most present note until the end (the bergamot less so), along with the leather and the pleasant spiciness of the "oud" For me it smells very high quality, I am glad to have discovered it.

A fragrance that you can definitely wear in all seasons.
Very niche in nature.
No wonder, because the original "Imperial Valley | Gissah / قصة" is also a niche fragrance.

The performance is strong.
Although I have only worn the fragrance a maximum of 5 times, the radiance was always so strong that I perceived it very strongly, especially in the first hour.
In the second hour, the fragrance was still very present.
Only from the 3rd hour does the radiance become rather moderate.
I only tested the durability on clothing.
And Liwan always lasted until my top had to go into the washing machine, so easily 24h+

My conclusion: A lot of fragrance for little money
Anyone who wants to stand out from the crowd in summer should try it out Can only recommend it.
I also have nothing similar in my collection, very unique the fragrance and for 19,99 € there is for the
Summer Laim something better.

The little brother of Ahmed Al Maghribi, "Marj"
The Liwan arrived today and I love the fruity, oriental leatheriness paired with oud. A really nice fragrance especially for the price. The fruity/floral notes definitely make it more suitable for everyday wear.
The fragrance reminded me directly of a perfume. The Ahmed Al Maghribi "Marj".
It basically smells very similar to Marj, only the fruitiness is a little more emphasized, smells slightly less complex and of course the durability/sillage is lower (the durability and sillage is great don't get me wrong).
For this price a really great fragrance.

For me it is the cheaper little brother of Ahmed Al Maghribi Marj, which is a little more suitable for everyday use.
