A fragrance for oud fans
Admittedly, it is not easy for me to write a review about this fragrance because it is so multifaceted and goes through many phases. It is therefore difficult to describe it, but I would like to try because I find Marj Eau de Parfum beautiful and I also think that it deserves more attention.
At first, when reading the fragrance descriptions, I was actually convinced that I wouldn't like Marj Eau de Parfum.
Too much oud, too woody and leathery. This combination is often too heavy and too masculine for me. Nevertheless, the fragrance surprised me absolutely positively and it is completely different from what I had imagined.
"Marj" starts slightly citrusy with bergamot and a hint of tangerine, accompanied by a lovely sweet honey note.
The oud is very present right at the beginning. It is minimally "dirty" and slightly animalic, but in no way reminiscent of cowshed oud. Rather, it is resinous, woody-sweet and yet wonderfully warm and spicy.
In the heart note, the fragrance becomes more floral. A delicate rose, lovely sweet jasmine and orange blossom emerge. I also detect a hint of saffron and cinnamon.
These notes combine with cashmere and musk in their most beautiful form. This combination gives the fragrance a very beautiful soft, sweet and almost feminine creaminess that does not make Marj Eau de Parfum seem too heavy or masculine.
In the drydown, the fragrance changes again and becomes more fruity. A fresh, juicy pear emerges intensely, accompanied by raspberries. It is not a synthetic, but a very authentic raspberry note - slightly tart, but still juicy, berry-sweet.
The fruity notes recede slightly into the background, while leather comes in. The leather note is not coarse or earthy, but gentle, soft and supple.
The oud remains very present throughout the fragrance and plays the leading role throughout, while the floral notes are also clearly perceptible, but always remain in the background. Of all the other notes, I find the pear to be the most intense.
"Marj" is a unisex fragrance that tends to be masculine due to the oud, the woodiness and the leather. Nevertheless, the floral-fruity notes and gentle creaminess make it a fragrance that women can also wear very well.
The longevity is absolutely great. With just 3 sprays, I perceive it intensely for over 12 hours. It almost has a beast-fashion character and you should be careful not to overdose it.
The fragrance is very multifaceted and combines many scent nuances at once. It is fruity, floral, spicy, woody and oriental which makes it a true fragrance experience.
I think Marj Eau de Parfum is not an easy fragrance. You definitely have to like oud and should not buy it blindly, but definitely test it first.
I am very happy that I had the opportunity to test it and thus discovered a fragrance for myself that I liked so much that a bottle will certainly soon be allowed to move into my collection.
