Marj by Ahmed Al Maghribi - an intense fragrance for Oud lovers
Marj is an intense fragrance that particularly appeals to Oud fans. The top note starts spicy and fresh with bergamot, pink pepper, and tangerine, complemented by a fine pinch of nutmeg and sweet honey. The Oud is clearly perceptible but not too dominant, rather well integrated.

In the heart, floral notes of rose, jasmine, and orange blossom unfold, accompanied by the warm spice of cinnamon and saffron, giving the fragrance an oriental depth.

The base combines musk, amber, leather, and sandalwood with a subtle fruity raspberry note. This ensures that the fragrance lasts a long time and has an elegant and slightly sensual finish.

For all those who love Oud and appreciate complex scents, Marj is a very good choice. It combines oriental warmth with fresh and floral accents while remaining refined and pleasant to wear.

A special thanks to Buri from Parfumerie Gouttiere through whom I tested the fragrance. There, you receive very personal and competent advice that is worth every visit.

The Oriental Powerhouse...
Hello everyone,

before I get into certain aspects regarding the scent - I want to share 1 or 2 other things.

I am someone who has arrived in the extremely high-priced league, but I never forget my roots and where I came from.

What does that mean?

I not only write reviews of expensive fragrances, but I also enjoy writing ones like this from time to time. Additionally, I used to only have those in the price range (up to €60), as I could hardly afford more back then (tuition fees, etc.).

The packaging / the tube is very reminiscent of LV in its structure - but here there is an additional velvet layer = nice. You can like the bottle and the shape or not, both is perfectly fine..., my first thought was "ok, something different".

The bottle and the cap are really well made for the price range and give a very decent impression!

Lastly, I want to mention openly and honestly that I do NOT (!) like the scent, nor the brand, so in my opinion, one cannot act more unbiased.
_______________

About the scent:

It is always a bit thankless to write about oriental fragrances... Because what is oriental? In my world, it is a mix of, for example, spices that do not grow in the Western world, such as saffron and nutmeg, cinnamon, etc., along with this woody oud base with (clean) musk, a hint of leather, and the HONEY creates a very successful composition.

But why only a 7.5?

This is not so easy for me to say...., the scent is on one hand very synthetic = which is completely understandable given the low price. I also know what is qualitatively possible. Even if the fragrances play in a completely different LEAGUE, that is clear to me! But this type of fragrance is no longer for me today, although it used to be!

But the biggest plus point besides the price (I'll get to that shortly) is its performance. Because it is outrageous, abnormal, and INSANE (in a positive way). Honestly (!), if we set aside DUPES, then the Marj Eau de Parfum is probably the strongest scent you can buy for €65.

POINT.

If a "budget" fragrance lasts 20 hours on my skin, then that is worth all the honor!

Now, about the price:

I have already hinted at it indirectly. The Marj Eau de Parfum is one of the best fragrances (!) in the range up to €65 (excluding dupes).

However, its power also has 1 or 2 disadvantages:

It can go to your head and cause headaches. Due to its POWER, it should be applied sparingly = your surroundings will thank you for it!

Can I recommend it?

Absolutely test it!
If you like it, buy it!

Blind buy?

If you like oriental - sweet and heavy fragrances, then yes, the loss in value is absolutely manageable.

UNISEX?

It is absolutely UNISEX wearable!

And now have a nice day/evening or whenever you read this review, best regards, Benny

A Fragrance for Oud Fans
I must admit that it is not so easy for me to write a review about this fragrance, as it is so multifaceted and goes through many phases. Therefore, it is difficult to describe, yet I want to try because I find Marj Eau de Parfum beautiful and I believe it deserves more attention.

At first, while reading the fragrance descriptions, I was actually convinced that Marj Eau de Parfum would not appeal to me.
Too much Oud, too woody and leathery. This combination is often too heavy and too masculine for me. Nevertheless, the fragrance absolutely surprised me positively and it is quite different from what I had imagined.

"Marj" starts lightly citrusy with bergamot and a hint of tangerine, accompanied by a lovely sweet honey note.
Right from the start, the Oud is very present. It is minimally "dirty" and slightly animalic, but in no way reminiscent of barn Oud. Rather, it is resinous, woody-sweet, and beautifully warm and spicy.

In the heart note, the fragrance becomes more floral. A delicate rose, sweet jasmine, and orange blossoms come to the fore. I also perceive a hint of saffron and cinnamon.
These notes blend with cashmere and musk in their finest form. This combination gives the fragrance a very nice soft, sweet, and almost feminine creaminess, which prevents Marj Eau de Parfum from appearing too heavy or masculine.

In the drydown, the fragrance transforms again and becomes fruitier. A fresh juicy pear emerges intensely, accompanied by raspberries. It is not a synthetic note, but rather a quite authentic raspberry note - slightly tart, yet still juicy berry-sweet.
The fruity notes recede slightly into the background as leather comes into play. The leather note is not harsh or earthy, but gentle, soft, and supple.

The Oud remains very present throughout the entire fragrance journey and consistently plays the leading role, while the floral notes are also well perceivable but always stay in the background. Of all the other notes, I find the pear to be the most intense.

"Marj" is a unisex fragrance that tends to appear masculine due to the Oud, woodiness, and leather. Nevertheless, because of the floral-fruity notes and the gentle creaminess, it is a fragrance that women can wear very well.

The longevity is absolutely top-notch. With just 3 sprays, I perceive it intensely for over 12 hours. It has almost a beast mode character, and one should be careful not to overapply it.

The fragrance is very multifaceted and combines many scent nuances at once. It is fruity, floral, spicy, woody, and oriental, making it a true olfactory experience.
I think Marj Eau de Parfum is not an easy fragrance. You definitely have to like Oud and should not buy it blindly, but rather test it beforehand.

I am very happy that I had the opportunity to test it and thus discovered a fragrance that I liked so much that a bottle will surely soon find its way into my collection.

MARJ I Princess Bottle with Beast Mode Content I Oriental Sensation with Beautifully Balanced Complexity
I could hardly believe that no one had written a review for "Marj / مرج | Ahmed Al Maghribi" yet. Yes, "oriental fragrances" are increasingly making their way to Europe, but most people mean Lattafa and Co. by that. However, there are also niche houses in the Orient that are truly creative and positioned at a higher price point with corresponding quality.

"Marj / مرج | Ahmed Al Maghribi" is one such fragrance; in general, I have started to celebrate Ahmed Al Maghribi, so many top fragrances from this house! "Marj / مرج | Ahmed Al Maghribi" is a wolf in sheep's clothing; cute, sweet. The content, however, is effectively on steroids.... but more on that, let's get into "Marj / مرج | Ahmed Al Maghribi":

- At the beginning, the fragrance is "fresh"; the bergamot is clearly noticeable in the opening, but only for the first few minutes, as the oud builds up simultaneously, which is absolutely not animalic, but rather resinous-sweet and blends very well with the light honey note.

- After that, the freshness recedes, and the sweetness merges in the next phase with floral-creamy aspects, rose subtly, cashmere, orange blossoms, and jasmine, along with an absolutely minimal green-earthy note from vetiver and patchouli. For untrained noses, this interplay smells bright-sweet-floral, but it is really well blended.

- In the drydown, the extremely soft oud gains weight again and mixes with a wonderful pear on an amber base, with subtle raspberry in the shadow of the pear. However, this fruitiness is optimally overshadowed by a more noticeable leather note, which ensures that the fragrance never becomes cloyingly sweet-oudy, but is balanced by the leather.

- The longevity is - sorry for my wording - brutal. A powerhouse - the fragrance lasts forever. Those who love projection monsters will also gain a scent that projects massively throughout the entire experience. You will be noticed, but with a low dosage (1-2 sprays), it can also be worn well in everyday life. With 5-10 sprays, you can be sure that your neighbor will smell it through the walls.

In summary, "Marj / مرج | Ahmed Al Maghribi" is definitely something for experienced noses to appreciate the complexity. However, it also requires someone who really wants to be noticed and has the presence for it.

Marj opens fruity-floral with citrus, pear, rose and pink pepper, then settles into a sweet ambery musk with saffron, leather and oud.
