Ard Al Zaafaran

The fragrance has just arrived and I have just tested it. I am aware that it will mature in the coming weeks and months, but I would like to share my impressions already:

First of all, I notice a big difference between the scent on a test strip and on the skin. On paper, it simply smells like medicine or a mild cough syrup. On the skin, however, the fragrance reveals a completely different profile:

Right from the start, it opens citrusy, medicinal, and within a few minutes it transforms into a sweetly aromatic fougère scent, where the sweetness of jasmine or lily of the valley stands out prominently.
The fragrance will continue to unfold over time, but in terms of conception, it strongly leans towards a floral-sweet dating fragrance for the evening. This floral composition is rounded off by the essential base notes of an evening/dating fragrance: amber, vanilla, and tonka bean.
In style, I see the fragrance in the direction of sweet-floral dating fragrances like "Myslf | Yves Saint Laurent" and The One for Men Eau de Parfum Intense.

Just a few minutes after the first spray, I notice that the fragrance already has a good sillage and longevity. I give it a few weeks/months and it will probably become nuclear with very long-lasting power.

My first impression of the fragrance is 8/10.

The presentation and packaging are phenomenal: leather packaging (smells like real leather) with embossed lettering, a heavy glass bottle with Arabic ornaments on a plaque - I have never seen anything like this before. For €15, I have never experienced such a price-performance ratio.

I can already recommend this fragrance as a blind buy without any issues. Once the fragrance has matured, I will come back and continue the review.

Edit:
After almost four weeks of maturation, I can share my final impressions: The fragrance has remained just as it started - only with better longevity. Interestingly, a leather note appears in the very late drydown, which I cannot detect when spraying. It only becomes noticeable after a day on the clothes and when smelling the neck of the bottle. When freshly sprayed, there is no trace of leather - instead, a beautiful floral sweetness unfolds, reminding me of "Myslf | Yves Saint Laurent." Not the scent itself, but the sweet-floral date-night concept including amber sweetness.

A great everyday fragrance for compliments (I have received several). The fragrance is absolutely mass-appealing and can be worn in the office, on dates, in church, or simply in everyday life. Thanks to its floral sweetness (either jasmine or lily of the valley) with amber, it is perfect for autumn, winter, and spring. It would also work in summer, but is probably a bit too light to withstand the summer heat.

The sillage is neither intrusive nor disturbing - rather pleasant, sweet, floral, and ambered. It is not a serious, overly professional fragrance, but a relaxed everyday companion that fits just as well with a hoodie and jeans as it does with a black suit, tie, and elegant shoes.

Upon first spray, I was reminded of the legendary Antaeus by Chanel.
Only fresher, less unique than that.
Bergamot and lavender come across very fresh right away. This is then playfully spiced and sweetened
by lily of the valley and geranium. Then a wonderful leather note emerges,
beautifully ambered, coming through.
The fresh citrusy leather note lingers forever in the drydown.
The manufacturer from the Emirates, Ard al Zaafaran, was unknown to me until now. But while browsing, I noticed the beautiful bottle. And since the price was only CHF 18.70, I jumped in blindly.
And I was not disappointed!
Because in terms of packaging, many can't even compete price-wise.
The bottle is nestled in a (faux?) leather sleeve, which has a fantastic real leather scent.
I tend to think it's real leather, as in the Emirates they don't really care about vegan or non-vegan.
Inside lies a fantastic glass bottle, not as heavy as its Arabic brothers, more in the European weight range. The sides and back are made of transparent glass, almost flawless, containing an amber-colored fragrance liquid.
The front is a true work of art, very beautiful Arabic mosaic art, which can also be felt, as it's not just laid on top, but also has a leather touch, very high quality.
Incredible what is offered here for the price of drugstore fragrances.
