Dry cardamom cracker
I have to admit one thing: I like him, even if he comes across as rather a bit angular and harsh....
But from the beginning:
Long ago bought blindly and without reading anything about it beforehand, just out of curiosity. Also, I wanted to know if Armaf provides a similar good quality as Lataffa (at least in my experience so far). Uhhh... am unsure....
First, about the exterior:
Simple but sturdy, in the upper removable part velvet-covered round box, the bottom piece of which, where the fragrance is, is covered with imitation leather. Visually nice and compact.
The bottle is round, made of thick glass and has a sturdy black lid that fits tightly and has a rich "click".
The fragrance :
Cardamom....Cardamom and spice, dry cinnamon note in the background, but also subliminally myrrh. For me, the cardamom dominates on the skin and somehow a great dryness.
The whole thing has nothing flattering or pleasing, rather something dominant and also clear, which already radiates neatly and is not discreetly gentle. One (s) must want that and consciously choose for themselves. Not exactly suitable to join as a crowd pleaser in the office next to the other Sauvage carriers...but that was not the goal...
Somehow I have associations with a spice market abandoned half swallowed by the desert, where a bag of forgotten cardamom pods withers in the sun and the wind blows this fragrance just before sunset towards the campsite of a caravan.
The second thing I notice in particular is a discrepancy between what I sniff as a carrier and what people in the area tell me. For the bystanders, it is apparently not as tart and dry, as for me, however, the cardamom note is clearly dominant even for the "from outside sniffers". In addition, I was told that there would also be something slightly floral to sniff. This impression I have for me alone absolutely not.
So: not "nice", but good, at least for me.
And as for the comparison with Lataffa, I would say that at least the Lataffa fragrances that I know are rounder, more sophisticated and altogether finer, but I have from Armaf also only this one in the collection.
