Very good amber oud at a bargain price
Surprisingly, Special Amber Oud opens very pleasantly. Despite its price, you don't get hit over the head with a vile, synthetic mess (as in, for example, One Man Show Oud Edition). Quickly after application, I get a very nice, very masculine amber/oud/woody/leather combination scent. About midway, a subtle rose scent appears, that comes and goes and finally disappears. If you're not a fan of rose, once the rose is gone (doesn't take long), it doesn't pop up again. Just the right amount of sweetness; not ooey gooey. Performance is quite good. Sillage is strong for about the first hour or two after which Special Amber Oud draws back. Excellent longevity, getting about 10 hours.
Very nice fragrance that smells more expensive than the price would suggest. I've never smelled Roja Amber Aoud but won't fool myself into thinking Special Amber Oud is of the same quality. I'm assuming the Roja would have real Oud and just be better all around. However, given how nice Special Amber Oud smells and its price, I'll be glad to add it to my collection.
UPDATE (4/17/2024): I recently did a comparison test between Special Amber Oud, Opus XIII Silver Oud and Maahir Black Edition. I liked the latter two much better so won't be getting a bottle of Special Amber Oud. I wouldn't say these three are similar although Silver Oud and Maahir Black share certain aspects that I like better.
