No. 57 Arquiste 2014

I'm not an alcohol beverage type of fragrance girlie, but even I have to admit this one is perfectly accessible for people who are dipping their toes into whiskey / rum based fragrances.

The whisky is subtle, not too in your face and not a roaring monster. It lies simmering gently on your skin. There's a dash of lovely cinnamon that adds a fall dimension to the scent. I will say though, that it doesn't take long before vanilla arrives and overtakes the whiskey note. It becomes a slightly spicy vanilla. Sweet, but not thick, more like a warm blanket. There's a dash of woodiness that ends up appearing towards the end, adding some warmth and comfiness, but vanilla remains the champion.

Pretty linear, more subtle than other alcohol fragrances I've smelled. People might prefer the more well known ones like Killian and I understand why. This one is more vanilla than whiskey and it doesn't project very far. It was still nice to try out, but won't be making it into my collection.

You know…reviewing this has convinced me to get my rollerball out and wear it for the first time in years.
It is enjoyably deep, warm, and boozy, with plenty of cinnamon. The blast of whisky and cinnamon are absolutely the top notes. I can’t really perceive the wood so much as I imagine the perfume would be much lighter without them.
The perfume fades after 2 hours to just vanilla sweetness on my arm.
