Quite sweet but well composed tobacco, at a bargain

Banana Republic Tobacco & Tonka Bean is part of the Icon Collection, released around the same time as Dark Cherry & Amber in 2019, but definitely a notch better, a sweet and spicy mix of the signature two notes, along with vanilla and coconut, the result being something majority-sweet with a slight amount of tobacco. Plum and pear are also listed notes but I do not especially detect either, the sweetness being that peculiar vanilla/tonka/coconut mix that comes up from time to time, rather than something that smells fruity.

Fans of sweet tobacco fragrances should certainly check this but be forewarned that there is not that much tobacco, though as I see it, there’s just enough to yield some semblance of balance between the sweet and spicy, but as mentioned before, the result is quite sweet, sweeter than most of the well-known sweet tobacco fragrances. The best comparison is Zara’s Tobacco Collection Rich/Warm/Addictive, which has a bit more of a coconut/honey vibe, contra the slightly more powdery tonka scent of Tobacco & Tonka Bean.

It is currently priced at $45 for 75ml on FragranceNet but I believe that that is roughly the retail pricing (I acquired my bottle for $30) so I’d certainly recommend looking out for a detail. At $30, it’s a really superb value but even $45 isn’t bad at all.

Tobacco & Tonka Bean

I was so stoked to find this after hearing about it as a sleeper hit from Banana Republic. I think the hunt is part of the fun, so when I found it in the back row on the top shelf of a discount store, it felt like I was really winning lol. It's a slight bummer though that I didn't love the scent as much as I had hoped to.

The biggest drawback is the plasticky, rubber smell. Other reviews mentioned dog toys, but it also reminds me of black tires/ tire tread. This sits mainly in the heart of the scent, so it does fade out eventually, but I don't like having to "work" to enjoy this scent. It's so noticeable, and I grimace every time I apply this fragrance. Is it the tonka? The tobacco? I'm not quite sure, but I'm a bit disappointed and wished I loved it more than I do.

Misleading Name, Lacks Detectable Tobacco Notes

It is a Nice Amber Spicy Fragrance, Powdery, Sweet and Vanilla. I don't get Tobacco note in this perfume and There is a Misleading Name! OR SWEET BOMB!
This review is based on bottle that is made in France, I must tell you honestly that If you are looking for a perfume Similar to Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille, This is not the same. Tobacco & Tonka Bean is more sweet and a Linear perfume, It is suitable for Women. I do get Tuberose note vibe undertone in this Scent. It opens up with sweet powdery fruity and spices notes in the background then dry down is sweet vanilla ambery. The Tonka Bean and Vanilla notes are dominant in this perfume. It is perfect for the Cold Weather and Longevity is Average. I bought it blind-buy after reading the positive comments with reasonable price.

Tremendous bargain & blind buy

This is a gentle, unisex, work-friendly variation on Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille. I blind-ordered it online for £24 and it's one of the best bargains in my collection. I've had it about a year, and the tobacco note is less prominent now than it was at first, but it's still pleasantly complex, especially considering the price.

I really gave it my all...

It so happened that a dear perfumer sent me a sample letter, from which half of the fragrances were immediately inhaled. Oh, dear. All great. Oh, great. That's not the way it was meant to be. I actually have enough fragrances and I just wanted to quickly... Because actually I don't want any new fragrances, I rather want to reduce the collection a bit. Well, you know that. The whole eigentlichs halt.

The first letter of complaint to the dear Parfuma was sent. Only great things to send but is also downright impertinent. The fragrance letter remained lying for the time being and was critically eyed.

There must be but also what you do not like, I thought to me.

You still dare to one. The Tobacco & Tonka Bean it should be. Very well.

Pffft pffft, then wait a minute. Nose to the wrist. Mmmhhh, fruity delicious! With a hint of coconut. I like. Sniff again: yes, yummy - but.... Ha! What's that? There's (finally!) a but!

My inner wallet crawls out of its cuddly corner and carefully warms up with a few stretches.

Nah, hold on a second, I better take another sniff. Oh yeah, tobacco. Lots of tobacco. Uh nope, that's too strong for me!!! The tobacco pushes its way forward and is in the front row, while the little fruits have shyly all but disappeared.

The inner purse wiggles its bum and then starts a light jog in sheer rapture (which is totally against the nature of the nose-owner, just sayin'!).

Waited some more and sniffed again: TOBACCO! Still! What are you doing!!! Indignation spreads. I don't like this, it's too much. And anyway? Who packs tobacco to delicate fruit?!

Meanwhile, of course, the inner wallet is already doing the flick flack on the big mat. In the gym. With music. Loud music. In front of an audience. Completely uninhibited.
A little out of breath, it later enjoys the thunderous applause. The rows then slowly thin out again. It takes another deep breath, goes towards the door, turns off the light, puts on the little cap on the way out - and suddenly has a wonderful scent in its nose. Immediately this one is on the wrist: what is that? WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?!!! What smells so devilishly good??? Spicy-wonderful tonka vanilla with a gaaanz leicht (and thus already almost appealing) tobacco veil.

Silence.

So slowly it dawns on the inner wallet. Loud stunned silence. Shock stupor, finally fainting spell.

Curtain.
What is left for me to say?
I'm not testing anything more from you, love - I'll tell you that! You're just too dangerous, laugh!
