In the Early Dew to the Mountains
I first tested this fragrance in autumn and was not impressed. Fresh, green, delicately floral and nice - yes. But not at all long-lasting, no momentum, no warmth, no sweetness. Above all, it simply vanished after a few minutes.
In the meantime, I know that autumn and winter are the wrong seasons for “W.” “W” belongs in spring and summer. Because since spring has truly arrived a few days ago and I tested “W” again - it was already in the souk - I want to smell it on myself again and again.
Right after spraying, a very energetic freshness spreads, reminding me a bit of cleaning products and an energetic, somewhat hyperactive gym teacher. These are the citrus notes, which I couldn't identify as bergamot or mandarin, only as generally hesperidic. This extreme energy, however, does not last; it fades away along with the hesperidic notes. Behind it, a light floral hint emerges, cool and damp and fresh in the manner of a spring morning in the garden.
Eager and active, yes, but no longer a hyperactive gym teacher.
Lily of the valley and honeysuckle are clearly identifiable; they exude this slightly tart, rather green and cool, and a tiny bit soapy kind of floral quality. The water lily adds an aquatic touch that does not impose itself; the impression of cool freshness remains more airy than wet.
The scent of freshly mown grass is also still distinctly present, with no trace of fruitiness.
If I had to depict “W,” I might choose a delicate, translucent chiffon scarf with an abstract floral pattern in green and white, fluttering in a light breeze, illuminated by the morning sun against a bright blue sky and a blooming orchard. Perhaps forgotten overnight on the clothesline.
The fragrance conveys an idea of purity and coolness and freshness, without me directly thinking of freshly washed or freshly showered. In my perception, it is both more abstract and more natural than that. A truly beautiful, quiet spring morning.
I do not detect amber or mahogany, and the musk remains elegantly restrained. They are indeed used so controlled that the fragrance gains stability and longevity without stepping into the foreground. At most, a bit of wood can be smelled, but I think of fresh, still slightly damp wood, not dry sawdust or sunlit boards.
I do not find that it changes significantly after the first few minutes. And while the longevity is not particularly impressive, 5-6 hours is quite acceptable.
“W” is a very beautiful, understated, light, and pleasant fragrance for the warm season, which also works very well as a companion at work. I think it would not seem out of place on men either. “W” is friendly but distant enough to appear professional, cool and green, young but not childish, and despite all its floral notes, it is not sweet.
It reminds me in character of "Eau de Givenchy," which is, however, significantly more intense and lively.
The bottle is of simple elegance, clear glass, a slightly curved, angular disc, filled with almost water-clear liquid, a simple inscription, and a plain, matte silver cap over a similarly styled spray head.
