Interesting Facts

Beaufort London was founded in 2013 by musician Leo Crabtree, live drummer for British band The Prodigy since 2008, and was born out of a typically British admiration for the forces of nature, Crabtree's affinity for the sea, and his personal fascination with the darker sides of British history.

In 2015, the brand launched its first fragrance collection, Come Hell or High Water, initially with just three scents – Tonnerre, Cœur de Noir, and Vi Et Armis – created for Beaufort London by Julie Dunkley and Julie Marlowe. The brand's conceptual approach to perfume making, the use of unusual ingredients in “overdosed” concentrations, and its darkly luxurious appearance flank Beaufort London's olfactory compass.

In 2017, the second fragrance collection Revenants was introduced, along with home fragrance products and various special editions. The development of one of the Revenants fragrances, Rake & Ruin, which expanded the collection in 2018, inspired the creation of the sister brand Beaufort Spirit. This brand explores the parallels between perfume making and the art of producing alcoholic spirits.
