Three Sniffs, Three Stories: My Mixed Feelings About Sandalwood Neroli
I’ve worn this fragrance three times over the past months, and each time, it’s given me a completely different impression.
The first time, it was a resounding "meh." I sniffed it on a tester strip during the summer and quickly decided it wasn’t the right season for it. I put it away, thinking I’d revisit it in the colder months.
The second time, I picked it up randomly, sprayed it on my arms, and went about my day. Hours later, I caught a whiff of something creamy, woody, and with a delightful zing of citrus. I couldn’t believe it was the same fragrance — I was genuinely surprised and impressed by how pleasant it smelled.
Third time’s the charm, right? Not so much. This time, instead of the fresh and pleasant citrus I enjoyed before, I was hit with a harsh, almost abrasive note that reminded me of a toilet freshener clumsily paired with sandalwood. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement.
Now, I’m left feeling perplexed. Do I like this fragrance, or do I not? I can’t seem to decide. But one thing’s for sure: finding a well-balanced sandalwood with a touch of citrus has officially become my new quest.
