Genius Clickbait, amateur art.

This does not smell like mushrooms, though I don't think we are meant to take the name literally. What magic mushrooms have you ever eaten that smell like anything besides dirt and mulch? I was surprised, though, by the sweetness here. Mostly: camphorous cypress and blackcurrant. Faint hint of cardamom. I also do not smell a hemp/cannabis accord--just something vaguely grassy/vegetal. The overall effect here is (sad to say) very juvenile: a kitchen sink mishmash that gives me whiplash. The only other perfume I can think of that does the same thing is Lubin's Upper Ten for W. Like mixing all the colors to get some weird purple brown.

Where is the mushroom?

When I first read about this perfume, I really wanted to test it as the idea about mushroom scent sounds really original. I was quite disappointed, when I was flying via Krakow and the duty free had all the testers from Bohoboco, except this one. So I ordered a sample and man, what a nice perfume!

It starts with a lovely herbal and flowery notes. I cannot really distinguish the flowers (although they are quite prominent), but I can clearly get the thyme, tiny bit of fresh grapefruit and the funkiness of the hemp note - fairly distinguishable, but not overly strong. Also the juicy sweet blackcurrant is noticeable. And in the base, I'm picking saltiness of the marine notes and a little bit of patchouli. Opening is definitely 10/10 for me.

As the scent starts to dry down, first to disappear is the grapefruit and the juicy notes, the scent profile stays fairly similar as in the opening for about 60-90min and then the other notes start to disappear and probably 4 hrs into it, what remains is salty/marine patchouli, a little bit flowery soft scent. It reminds me of a warm summer day, when you are sweating a little bit (not stinky sweat, it is still very pleasant).

I was able to detect it even 12 hrs after spraying, but at that point it is very different from the opening. Basically just salty, sweaty patchouli. This is why I have rated the scent profile and longevity as I did.

So what happened to the mushroom? I imagine, it would smell earthy, damp, maybe a bit mossy, but i have not picked anything like it. The scent is very nice green, herbal, flowery, ideal for the summer. It is playful, very slightly leaning to feminine side.

Everything is so colorful here

The bright pink color and the meaningful name more or less announce that this is anything but conventional. Magic Mushrooms is a gentle, wild trip through various olfactory impressions between citrusy, sweet, floral, fruity, spicy, fresh and earthy. And all in succession but somehow at the same time, like a children's birthday party for adults and yet relatively natural, as befits magic mushrooms.

Because between all the kaleidoscopic nuances and moods, the slightly bitter hemp flashes up as a counterpoint. The overall effect is as if you had layered several fragrances yourself and then experimented with them. The magical scented mushrooms are not intoxicating or mind-expanding in the direct sense, but in my mind's eye images flicker between "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" and Homer Simpson's mysterious fantasy dream during his "chili trip", because he devoured large quantities of particularly hot Quetzlzacatenango peppers, which are only grown in the deepest jungle by inmates of a Guatemalan insane asylum.

Regardless of whether Bohoboco (a Polish perfume label with a sense of humor) deliberately wanted this fragrance or whether it is the result of a very experimental perfumer, Magic Mushroom is already something crazy special and incomparable, but absolutely wearable - even pleasantly wearable, even if you wonder what possibly cheerful occasion you would like to wear this creation best (except carnival, funfair, New Year's Eve). In terms of seasons, spring and summer at least come to mind.

ErgoProxy in (olfactory) wonderland.

Magic mushrooms, that sounds like consciousness expansion and hippie culture. But somehow it also makes me think of Alice in Wonderland. When I reread the book as an adult, I suspected that Lewis Carroll was no stranger to such substances.
The Catterpiller smokes a hookah and sits on a mushroom, which makes him taller or shorter depending on the page. A rogue who wouldn't think of such things.

First things first, the scent has nothing in common with the natural drug apart from the name and the garishly bright color.

The top note is initially crisp. Grapefruit with a spicy green note gives the illusion of freshness for a few minutes, but then it descends into an olfactory wonderland.

The flowers in the heart note get bigger and bigger, more lush and powerfully sweet and spicy. I can't detect hemp as an unpleasant stoner scent. The fragrance definitely has a certain earthy facet, but I don't find it really mushroomy. The top note lasts a good three hours for me before the fragrance impression starts to change again.

The base is then an exciting interplay of mossy, earthy patch, a moderately salty note and a spicy residue of immortelle. Here, too, the fragrance is still headstrong, but wearable for me.

The longevity is very good in my opinion. The fragrance lasts a good twelve hours on the skin and even longer on fabric. The immortelle also comes through a little more clearly. The sillage remains quite moderate. You notice the fragrance when you get closer to the person wearing it. If I can believe my critical colleague, the fragrance is pleasantly different.

Magic Mushrooms is not a fragrance for the masses and synthetic naggers will not be happy here either, unless the nagging itself is perceived as making them happy.

In the end, perfume should also give pleasure and possibly, if you are receptive to it, transport you mentally to other worlds or other moods. No matter what others think of the fragrance in question.
